Former Dallas Cowboys safety Darren Woodson joined Elf & Slater on 105.3 FM The Fan on Monday. Here are some highlights.

On Dez Bryant:
“For the last few years since Dez has been on the team, we all know the talent and the skill set is unbelievable. We know he can take his game up to another level. But I think what’s happened in the last year is that he’s come around mentally and he’s starting to digest the playbook. I think that’s the big part of the game. Hey, listen, there’s a lot of great athletes and I played with a lot of great athletes that just couldn’t get the job done because mentally they didn’t know where they were going to be or should be and couldn’t make plays. Dez is finally starting to come around mentally, hey, this kid is a top 5 receiver in the league and I would say top 4 receiver in the league once he puts it all together.”

On the vibe changing around Valley Ranch:
“One thing we saw when Bill Parcells came in was an attention to detail. He took a team that was 6-10 for three straight years I think it was, to a team that went — with no talent — to a 10-6 team. I think the atmosphere changed back then. Then they went through a process where they still played very well but I don’t know if the attention to detail was still there. The more I’m around and seeing what Jason Garrett is about, they’re trying to start back and get back to there. I still think it has a lot to do with the players but I think they’ve done a great job in the last couple of years of drafting guys that are complete football players and good guys on and off the field, guys like Sean Lee and (Bruce) Carter at the linebacker position. That’s where they want to go. That’s the type of character guys they want to have. I think that’s been the great experience for the organization is bringing guys in that are gym rats, bringing guys in that definitely want to play and want to win football games.”

If Jerome Henderson doesn't work out, let's start a petition to bring in Woody as a coach :x:

I don't know what kind of coach Woody would be but he's a first class person and was one of the best safeties of his generation. I'd love to have him roaming around Valley Ranch again.

I think Henderson is a fantastic secondary coach though, so I wouldn't want Woodson to replace him... but to help him would be great.

The team was 5-11 for three years when Parcels arrived. Not 6-10.

Not that it is important. But if Woodson was making a point that had any type of negative aspect, the thread would have been four pages already pointing it out and suggesting he is clueless.

Or four pages long with folks getting another affirmation from the media.

That they so desperately look for.

As a matter of fact I think this thread is so short because its positive.

Doesn't give folks like you something to run with.
