I've read he'll be joining Kiffin's staff as LB coach.

Gotta admit I had forgotten about him being part of the staff here in Dallas.

That's a damn shame - we've been seeing alot of growth in Spencer and Carpenter. Burnett also developed a fair bit in his final year here before leaving in FA. We have this large slew of young LBs to train: JWill, Bwill, Hodge, Butler, CJohnson.

I wonder if he can be convinced to stay. There will be a DC position opening up soon when Wade retires that he can compete for here.

Where did I say that?

I said there will be an opening that he could compete for. You do know that most DCs were previously position coaches who were excelling at their craft in terms of player development and on-field execution? Is that not true of the Cowboys LBs?

Get some reading lessons!

I thought he was an assistant LB coach here and the defensive quality control guy....help players review film, etc...

I could be wrong....but I didnt think he was actually on the sidelines and/or coaches boothe during games...

I think Reggie Herring has done a fine job teaching the LBers

but it would been nice to keep Dat

That's right!

I guess Dat has a long ways to go then. He might get a much more plum job up at USC and cut his teeth at the college ranks.

For some reason I thought he was the LB coach but he is actually at a very junior level presently.

He is the sort of guy who could make a good coach. Intelligent, overachiever, fiery, great attention to detail.

It is still too bad he is leaving. He was one of the few bright spots during some of our darkest days.

If he does he'll regret that decision, raising a family in LA is a horrible dilemma right now. His money and standard of living are better off in Dallas.

I have not heard this, but if true good for Dat. He would be replacing Ken Norton, who followed Caroll to Seattle.

Man, I sure wish that Brooking could take his place on the staff next season, but I guess that would be another year or two away.
