The league needs to stop punishing players by making them miss games. It hurts the fans and their teammates more than it hurts the players themselves. Fine them the equivalent of game checks and require them to do off-season community service projects or make them play in the pro-bowl or something.

Then again, maybe the league thinks the problem is initiating with the teams, and that's why the punishment has them missing games instead. That probably *was* the case at one time, but with the advent of FA and the cottage industry around athlete preparation that's sprung up around the league these days, I assume it's the players themselves who are getting into substance trouble and not the team trainers pushing them.
Amen. Punishment is not the solution.

Agreed. DI seemed to show up or make a play on occasion usually late in the game but never consistently effective at the position. If he's playing against a dominate RT, he doesn't show up at all. He looks like he has all the physical abilities but just seems lazy. We need to release these suspension clowns and keep churning FA and the draft.
I wouldn't release this clown, last season week 6 he did manage to get Defensive Player of the Week and was a much more impactful player the second half of the season. I'm just saying he's not that good the first half of the season which just so happens to be when his suspension will be served.

They only test each player 1 time per season between April and August...the rest of the year you can inject Sustanon 250 in each butt cheek until you can't sit down ( only a juicer will get this reference).

Disappointed he didn't do like the rest of the players and cycle his steroids down and use oral or water based juice after February.

Come on man!!

This is kind of what happens when your defense is mostly guys who were problem players with other teams or taken off of their scrap heaps. We got a steal with Irvin, but it's not surprising that he got in trouble given we don't have the level of leadership on defense that we do from offense. We will have to draft some character guys who can play high in the next few drafts.

Does the league ever officially announce what the player tested positive for or does the media just get whatever story the player or his agent puts out there?

It wasnt even cheating. A lot of these guys dont have people to guide them and tell them every substance they cant take. It was literally a mistake, and its happened in almost every sport because the list of things you cant take is in the thousands. Most players have money to pay agents and or other people to do this for them. In this case his agent gave him the supplement. Could he have gone to the Cowboys training staff and double checked? Sure. Its not like this guy went out with the intent to cheat.

NFLPA provides support for this. IIRC they have a phone number and resources for players to use.

Lane Johnson didn't learn his lesson about cheating. He went straight to the 10 game suspension.

For your sake, I hope he can actually play without steroids.

What is even worse than Johnson is that Gregory will never learn!!!!

Mara is on the line right now with the schedule makers asking if the Giants can switch the schedule so the Giants can play the Cowboys twice in the first 4 games.

In hindsight this makes the Taco pick much more valuable, we'd be in really bad shape the first month of the season if we went another direction there at 28.

Maybe forcing Taco into the starting lineup right away makes us stronger in the long run... i really believe he and Irving could be quite the tandem in the 2nd half of the season. Those are some freaky talents for Rod to work with.

And for as bad as the Randy Gregory selection looks, he's still only 24 years old and under contract through 2018. I'm not betting on him, but wouldn't that be something if he's able to turn a corner after this suspension. You're talking about 3 potential tall, young, athletic freaks.

Annnnnd back to reality....
