Davis article from Washington Post

Found this on a Skins board, thought it was interesting.

From Washington Post Insider:

"Between the Commanders and Dallas...."
Leonard Davis Speaks

Just ran into him as Jason Campbell was taking the big man to lunch. Davis seems like a cool, laid back cat. Said it's down to the Commanders and Dallas, where he visited yesterday. Said the Cowboys did not make a firm offer but they talked about parameters. Has no other visits planned.
"I might make a decision this evening," Davis said. "I've just got to talk to my agent and talk to my wife ... It's all up in the air right now."
Davis said he had good meetings with Buges, Coach Joe, The Snyder (he didn't call them by those names of course, but you get the drift).
"This is my top two," Davis said of the Skins and Cowboys. He also said he wants to play here because "this organization "is committed winning." Yeah, that's what everyone says. Not sure if winning and spending are one and the same, but you get the idea. These guys clearly want to try to win in the way they want to win, but there remain caveats galore when you throw out big free agent bucks.
As for the wild spending in this free agent market, Davis said: "Nothing surprises me."

Well he knows how to be diplomatic. Of course when you are talking tens of millions of dollars the incentive certainly is there.

I hope he comes back to Big D.. I wanna see him next to Gurode at that G position. Thats alot of beef opening holes for JJ and MBII. Infact, if we sign Davis, I'd be ok with McQ holding down the RT position.

He'll go to whoever pays him more, obviously . . . .

The question is what JJ wants to dole out.

If JJ wants him, he'll get him. We have double the cap room of the Skins.

But honestly said, I'd be wary to guarantee him huge bucks given his questionable work ethic. But to get Davis, JJ will have to dish out big bucks and will have to take the risk.

I still wonder if it's better to go with a guy like Carlisle or Holland, for example, and use the extra savings to sign good role players?

where are u guys getting all this questionable work ethic? any links to this?

seems like during this part of the yr, everybody knows everything about players from other teams. but i'd actually like to see comments on his work ethic. so if anybody has one send it.

You mean that he's regarded as lazy and as an underperformer?

Well the income tax in DC is obnoxious whereas there is no tax in Texas so that does help our cause. Lokks to me hes just trying to get leverage.

I believe a change in teams and move him back to his G spot would do wonders for this huge man. He will dominate inside at G for us. It's not like this is our money we are talking about, dish out the money and get this done. You have to pay a lot for anyone with how the market is now so just do it.

It's not the work ethic it's the fact that he takes plays off, always has.

Come on Latin,

This has been discussed at length for 2 days now. The entire problem is if you guarantee someone big bucks who generally has not played to potential, will they start to?

Everyone has their own opinion on every player in the league. Some feel he is lazy and not worth the money but WHO is in today's market. I for one feel he would be a mauling G for us and we should get this done.

just look at the film. He opened NO decent holes for Emmitt or the Edge in Arizona. Russ Grimm is a very respected O.Line coach and he didn't want him back in the desert. I don't need a link to see the obvious my friend. He's overrated and overweight. I hope the midget in D.C. overpays for him. I expect to hear exactly that later tonight. He won't let JJ outbid him: cap be damned!!!!!!!!:

yup and i asked for a link when it first started and nobody stepped up for their words. im taking u dont have a link either. like i've stated in other threads. my dad is a cardinals maniac. and he's actually pissed the cards are letting him go. he was mad when he got moved to tackle. i dont follow the cardinals like him, but from his words the guy is very good, but just misused.

he paid 200 for sunday ticket just for cardinal games. lol he doesnt ever watch any other football games just the cardinals.

He played OT for cards not his more natural position. He will be a beast ala Andrews at G.

The way Snyder screws his players over with the salary cap... Why in the world would he even consider the Skins? He must have a stupid agent by not informing him of this issue.
