IRVING, Texas – Entering his second season with the Cowboys,Brice Butler has a much better idea of what to expect in 2016 – and that pertains to far more than just football.

It’s easy to forget now, after the turbulent 2015 season that saw the Cowboys finish 4-12, but Butler’s induction to the organization was a trial by fire. After being acquired in a trade just two days after Dez Bryant broke his foot, Butler spent most of the season adapting on the fly.

“With the trade and all of that, it’s a lot of stress that – you don’t think of it, because you feel like you’re ok, but really that’s a lot of stress,” he said. “You lose your job, then you find out you’ve got a job, then you fly somewhere else and then you come here and it’s hot as crap.”

The climate was an obvious adjustment for a guy coming from Oakland, where Butler said the Raiders practice in 65-degree weather. On top of that, there was the little task of replacing Bryant, whose injury left the Cowboys without their primary touchdown threat.

“One of the challenges with players when they come into your team during the regular season is they don’t have a real foundation with you,” said Cowboys coach Jason Garrett. “They’re kind of picking things up on the run and they’re learning game plans and they’re learning your system as you’re getting ready to play a game.”

Some folks at the ranch say Brice doesn't love the game, not mentally strong enough to be effective on a consistant basis. I hope he proves them wrong.

Seriously, that's what you took from that??? Come-on now.

Butler is going to be a nice compliment to our WR's this year and he can stretch the field.....

Yeah I did.... Don't expect him to be on the final 53 man.. I'll make sure to bump this post for you

Complaining about the heat when you play football as your job....

He honestly dosent have a heart for this

Hey bro, when you're being sarcastic/funny it's good to use one of the smiley faces or something at the end of your post. That way people will know it's a joke and won't think you're just dumb.

Just a heads up.

I hope so. Why even complain about the weather? Football players.. real ones don't GAS what kind of weather they play in. Real talk, we need this guy focused to push Williams .

Easily in my top 3 or 4 guys I'm keeping a very close eye on this summer. His contributions this year will directly affect what we do in next years draft at WR IMO.

I completely agree. For me, it's he and Terrance Williams competing for the right to be this team's future #2 receiver and getting a contract extension. Based on their work so far, Williams would have the higher current asking price I would think, but Butler can find himself a home if he can become a consistant contributor.

He brings a down-field speed element that I feel this offense needs. I hope he can deliver this year.

Romo will make any receiver on this team better. Remember that Robinson fellow from a few years ago and
TO extended his career because of the "man"!

This is Butler's 4th year in the NFL. He's 26 years old. He's averaged 213 yards receiving in his first 3 seasons.

Maybe (hopefully) this year is different, however, this might be what he is.
