As information continues to come out regarding the Tuesday morning incident involving Cowboys fullback Deon Anderson, a couple points should be made for the sake of clarity.

First, Anderson is not accused of pointing a gun at the parking lot valet in Addison, Texas. In the arrest warrant affidavit issued Wednesday, the valet only accuses Anderson of retrieving the weapon from his vehicle, not aiming it. That is much the reason Anderson has been charged with misdemeanor deadly conduct, and not something more serious.

Secondly, it is fair to assume Anderson was not intoxicated at the time of Tuesday's incident, which would have resulted in more serious charges. Officers frequently initiate sobriety tests when alcohol is believed to be a factor in any alleged wrongdoing.

And a final clarification, Anderson is not thought to be currently wanted by police. As of Wednesday afternoon, Anderson, Cowboys officials and the player's attorney were aware of the new warrant released in Addison, and were prepared to pay his bond.

That does clear some things up, but he is still in hot water.

Who was prepared to pay his bond? The Cowboys or Deon's attorney? It's worded kind of funny.

I don't care if he pointed, retrieved or even mentioned that he had a gun, it's still a threat of violence. I'm fine with Phillips blocking and without wedges, a wedgebuster isn't needed either. Nice knowing you Cricket.

Buh-bye

Or so I hope.

Because of this? I could understand if it was due to finding an upgrade at the position

I consider John Phillips an upgrade. He might not be as good of a lead blocker as Cricket, however Phillips is a pretty good blocker, much more of a threat in the passing game out of the backfield and it would open up a roster spot on gameday.

I guess my question is regardless of this incident this is something you would like to see?

I wanted him gone before this and definitely after this.

1) He takes up a rosters space doing something that is easily done by others.

2) What would you do if it was you and your family that this happened to.

IE he takes a gun out of his car.......

So what if he didn't point it.

I loved Cricket when we first brought him in but have soured on him slowly over time. I've gotten to the point where I don't see a huge dropoff in blocking and value the roster spot more, especially with the return of some of our injured players. This incident is just the final nail for me.

As big as cricket is, why was there a reason for even getting his gun?

Was his life threatened by a big, bad valet?

Great, you want to replace a gunslinger with a ninja. ;)

Edit: But I wouldn't mind giving him another chance...

I guess some here would have cut about half the '90's team based on behavior away from the field.

The guy has to be the most easily replaceable player on the offense.

None of know for sure of course.

One plausible reason might be that he was suspiscious of the valet's behavior and wanted to A. make sure the gun was where he left it and B. Secure it.

Another plausible explanation might be that he could not get the vehicle started and was going to have it towed and needed to secure the weapon.

Both very plausible reasons and in both cases it would be irresponsible to NOT get the gun from the car.

This is more and more sounding like much ado about nothing. Of course it is still to early to tell either way.

I have to admit though. I am more then a little surprised about some of the irrational gun fearing going on. Especially coming from Texas.

I register and safely handle all of my guns. If thinking the behavior Cricket demonstrated bonehead at best and not suitable to retain his already questionable roster spot is irrational gun fearing, count me feared.

1st off this is what he has been accused of a bit different than found guilty of.

As for his play on the field it has been alright but I think we can do better so on for that reason alone I would have no issue of replacing him

As the facts are coming out, it seems less likely that anything will come of this. I had a hunch this was getting blown out of proportion. Let the facts speak for themselves and let those calling for him to be convicted and cut from the team eat their words.

You've made a very respectable and plausible theory of what could have occurred. In the other thread, people couldn't wait for him to be cut from the team for pointing a gun at some poor valet.

Now it seems that's not what happened at all.

But let's not concern ourselves with facts, especially in legal cases.
