Apparently They Give a Trophy for This One...

That's right, the winner of Friday's 7 p.m. game at Texas Stadium between the Cowboys and Texans wins "The Governor's Cup."
I'm told the Cowboys held an 18-13 advantage in Governor's Cup wins against the old Houston Oilers, who left for Tennessee in 1996. The Cowboys are 3-3 against the Texans since their inaugural season in 2002, and that's accounting for four preseason games and two in the regular season.
The talk around Dallas has long been that the Cowboys didn't care about the Governor's Cup, but that it was actually a big deal in Houston - people have always said the Oilers/Texans treat the game as their Super Bowl. I noticed a Cowboys beat writer polling players in the locker room earlier this week as to what the trophy at stake Friday is called, and the only one I heard answer correctly was center Andre Gurode.
Gurode, not surprisingly, grew up in Houston.
So, Cowboys fans, do you care if the Texans win this preseason game? What if the Cowboys won, but it means a starter has to miss a couple regular season games with, say, a stubbed toe... Is it even worth that much to you to beat the cross-state rivals?
Oh by the way... Forget the fact Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game. Teams he's coached are a dismal 2-4 in Governor's Cup games dating back to his first year as a defensive assistant for his father on those 'Love Ya Blue' Oilers. Off with his head!
Here's more on the Governor's Cup from a highly reliable source... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor%27s_Cup_(Texas)
