Bradie James: I May Gain Weight

Apparently Jason Garrett's been leaving middle linebacker Bradie James alone as well.
James said Wednesday he may actually try to put on a little weight between now and training camp, knowing he's bound to lose some during the season. But it's not like 56 is planning to get fat, or anything, he just wants to beef up enough to help him take on interior linemen and fullbacks in his Mike linebacker position.
“(I'm) doing different things working out-wise, understanding that my role will definitely increase this year, so just working on endurance, just doing things like that," James said. "Now is the time to get in the best shape of my life, our lives, going into training camp, because you’ve got pads on. You want to eat a little bit because you know you’re going to lose some weight during the season. It’s all about your endurance, because once the season comes, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.”
While James' role isn't really increasing from where it was at the end of last season, when he played every down, his total snaps will go up in 2009. Last season he came off the field on third downs until about midway through the year.
More snaps on third down could equal more sacks for James, who had 8.0 last year. And becoming an every-down player also gives him a better shot at Pro Bowl recognition, something he was arguably deserving of last year.
