Chiefs Work Out Bartel
Chiefs Work Out Bartel
Posted by mickshot at 9/13/2008 12:59 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

Former Cowboys practice squad quarterback Richard Bartel was among nine players working out for the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday. The Cowboys released Bartel off the practice squad this past Monday when they signed veteran Brooks Bollinger as the third quarterback to the 53-man roster.

Bartel, who finished up his college career at Tarleton State, spent the 2007 season on the Cowboys' practice squad running the scout-team offense. That again was going to be his job this season until Bollinger was signed to the one-year deal to provide insurance behind Tony Romo and Brad Johnson.

You strike gold with an undrafted Tony Romo and all of a sudden every QB cut from your practice squad is starting for a team somewhere.

Good for him ;)

I hope he latches onto their roster/practice squid. I thought he showed a little promise in that last preseason game, and he seems to be a good guy, I wish him the best.

so is this matt moore all over again???

What exactly has Matt Moore done? Yeh he was the last option for the Panthers last year. They had so much faith in him they traded for Josh Mccown. I wish Bartel the best but he wasnt going to do anything for us and I highly doubt he does something for someone else.

IIRC Matt Moore has started and won NFL games. Shown some savvy and leadership.

And gotten injured this year, so the Panthers got another insurance policy. But Bartel has not shown himself to be a Matt Moore.
