Based on the special teams practices all week, it appears linebacker Curtis Johnson and wide receiver Kevin Ogletree will both be in uniform for Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.

For Johnson, it would be his first game since Carolina on Sept. 28. The outside backer has been nursing a hamstring strain, but even when he returned to practice, Johnson has remained inactive for the last four games. But he’s practiced all week on special teams and could replace Steve Octavien, who has been active for every game.

The thought behind that could be the Cowboys’ need for more pass rush against Donovan McNabb and Johnson might provide a better rotation.

As for Ogletree, he would be the fifth receiver active for the second straight week. While he provides some depth and speed on offense, it does take away a player such as rookie linebacker Jason Williams, who was inactive last week.

Look for Ogletree to get a WR screen or 2 thrown his way. They can't afford to have him active just to collect splinters on the bench.

Roy Williams since Ogletree is taking his place in the starting lineup. :laugh2:

That would also help slow down the Eagles pass rush.

I like the idea of having the tree on the gameday roster but not at the expense of someone like Jason Williams. The special teams are playing really well right now. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I fully expect Curtis Johnson to strain his hamstring in pregame warmups.

And on another note, while I have complete faith in Coach DeCamillis, I am concerned about disrupting a very effective coverage team by removing Octavien from the Gameday roster. Is Johnson going to take his spot effectively? Has he practiced enough to do so?

Look for Ogletree to ride the pine, while we force the ball into a now disgruntled Roy Williams.

Hey, someone had to bring some pessimism to this thread. :laugh1:

Johnson is a waste... Just like Rossum and that guy everyone wanted to take Procters spot! Why do we draft guys if we are not going to let them play

Because maybe they are not ready? Maybe what we have starting is better than satisfying your need to see a rookie play? I like the collection of young talent on this team, and beleive we have great depth everywhere except the o-line, but you have to think coaches know a little something if they are not forcing a young guy in to an important game just so you could see what a guy can do.

The position he is going to play I assume is to backup ware, octavien is doing that now. Johnson is young. I cant imagine why anyone wouldnt want him to get opportunities.

The guy drafted to play this spot was brandon williams and if you havent noticed he was hurt in camp.

I don't think Octavien has produced at a rate that will make it hard to replace him on special teams. Plus, Johnson is no slouch in that area.

The two linebackers who might be the toughest to replace on special teams from what I've seen are Carpenter and Butler.

Johnson has also actually shown some pass rush ability in games, not just the preseason like Octavien. He'd still be with the Colts if not for his injury forcing them to make a tough decision on a player who wasn't a perfect fit at defensive end because of his size.

Could be our surprise player against the Eagles, if healthy.
