Anyone else thinks this will effect the way Wade calls his plays?

Roy seems to be moving around quite a bit during the game and is often times less then 10 yards off the line, only to have to drop deep into coverage. Anyone else think that Wade will just put Davis out there and tell him what to do?

Also, when are they going to start suspending players for repeated personal foul Facemasks? No one will convince me that the injury possibility of torquing someone's head will ever be greater then hat of landing on someone's legs.

I do think the tackle is dangerous but at the same time, so is a lot of things that are allowed in the league. Offensive players can dive straight at someone's legs without being frowned upon.

I think that the horsecollar shouldn't be allowed. Pulling back and landing on someone's legs shouldn't be allowed. However, I think there should be a distinction. If the player doesn't land on the runners legs and fold up them up, it should be fine. If the tackler does land on someone's legs and folds them up, he should be fined and suspended. You have to give the defender a chance to make the play.

This is the last time I am going to address this thread. As it seems like it is like trying to clap with one hand.

So the WR analogy was a poor one..So be it.

But the video indicates that Roy is running at an angle. As he is reaching up to grab mcnabb is no further from his legs than he was his collar at that time. He is also at the same time starting to fall.

He had equal chance to grab the legs as he did the collar whether he layed out or just continued to fall.

The video evidence is right there. People can deny it all they want but it is right there.

Forget that for a moment even if someone wants to argue logic.

He has been warned again and again not to do this, he has been fined more than once for this. Yet he does it again and not only that, he jumps up and acts mad like the call is bogus.

It's the stinking stupid rule that he himself caused to become the stupid rule in the first place.

Ok..I am done with this topic. It is nothing but a waste of time. I see it the way I see it, others see it the way they see it.

However one thing is clear and nobody, no matter how hard they argue it or what angle they take can change. It IS against the rules and he HAS been warned multiple times for it so if nothing else it is his own fault for the suspension.

So now it's a matter of opinion, as opposed to the fact it was 2 pages ago

Classic case of backpedaling. I'd give up to

btw, if Roy lunged forward and shoe-lace tackled McNabb, who here wouldn't be calling him an ankle-tackler?
Better yet... say Roy dove and clipped McNabb's foot, McNabb briefly stumbles but regains his balance and runs for another 15 yards. People would make pinatas in his likeness and burn them.

You want to say it was the only choice he had, I disagree, but then Roy has to decide if stopping a 20 yard run is worth being suspended for. Because that is what is going to happen the more he does it again and again.

he decided his responsibility was make the tackle and prevent an even bigger play, its what defensive players are supposed to do...again, defenders interfere when they know they're beat, why? to prevent the TD...its a rule not to interfere, but they do it anyway right?

its kind like when you join the military to serve the country...nobody wants to be seriously injured or die, but its the risk you take with the job...they're job is to protect the country no matter what...a defensive players job is to prevent the other team from making first downs and scoring...I'm sure he wasnt thinking "I am going to horse collar him!!!", its just what he did to make the play

I just dont see why so many are making this into a bash Roy thread...he did his job, he made the play when nobody else was going to...like I said earlier, had he let McNabb (or anyone else) go or whiffed, then said "I just couldnt make the play without grabbing the back of the jersey" he'd have been flogged royally for it...people would have said "why didnt he just take the damn penalty!!!! its only 15 yds!!!! McNabb ended up gaining 50 on that play!!!!"

and dont try to deny it, you know its 100% true

But he would be playing next week wouldn't he?

No, you're responsibility as one of the highest paid players on the defense is to stay on the darn field.

Again, this is not even remotely the first time he has been fined - in fact the firggin rule IS NAMED FOR YOU. If he can't make the play another way - DONT MAKE THE PLAY.

If he wants to horse-collar someone to make a game saving play in the playoffs we'll talk - but right now its more important he be back for the whole game next week then stop that one stupid run.

its kind like when you join the military to serve the country...nobody wants to be seriously injured or die, but its the risk you take with the job...
Please, don't even go there.

Complete supposition. Means nothing.

Meanwhile the results of what he DID do are that he will not play at all in a game we need to win to ensure HFA.

Dumb.

Pretty sure Mike Vick was injured by a horsecollar tackle back in the day, or at least a wrap-tackle where the player drops on the back of his legs, which does the same damn thing, but is legal.

In addition, if you view Sean Taylor's (RIP) highlight video on youtube, you can see him horsecollar McNabb and others. Brian Dawkins has made a habit of it as well.

None of them have hurt anyone as visible as TO, tho.

You guys defending the horsecollar on McNabb are making me shake my head. Roy could have easily made that tackle...he ran McNabb down from behind.

If you're going to try and tell me that a gimply McNabb can outrun Roy Williams when Roy already can reach out and touch him and grab his shoulder without even leaning or diving, then maybe it's time for slowwwwww Roy to retire.

That should have been a very easy wrap up tackle with Roy on top of McNabb on the ground.

And being blamed for every yard Carolina gained.

they'll probably find someway to blame him for every yd they gain anyway, even though he wont be out there

if they SEE Roy on the video, whatever happens is his fault, always

they'll probably come up with some reasoning to explain how its Roy's fault that Romo sucked yesterday

Why do I care that other people have agendas?

And why does it matter to this argument?

I guess the fact that McNabb had a huge headstart on RW from where he was coming from, doesnt quite dawn on you does it?

I'm sorry, is there a post by me in this thread that says we will be better off without him?

Why is the argument being changed as people start to realize that there is no defense for doing the same stupid crap over and over?

Joe Buck, is that you? Or maybe it was Aikman who kept saying Mcnabb is obviously not at 100% from the knee injury multiple times yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mcnabb is out there doing wind sprints for first downs (he sure looked "Full speed" to me). I swear, Mcnabb is the only guy who gets a pass EVERY week of EVERY season because of some mysterious injury.
