I'm sorry, is there a post by me in this thread that says we will be better off without him?

Why is the argument being changed as people start to realize that there is no defense for doing the same stupid crap over and over?

case in point...

I rather him be suspended for his inability to make plays

btw, you notice me saying anywhere on this forum that Roy shouldn't be suspended?

We probably won't miss him anyway. Put in Davis or Brown and everything will be fine. We can watch them not cover as well as we can watch Roy not cover.

None of them have hurt anyone as visible as TO, tho.

All the more reason why Roy has to STOP DOING IT.

Its not fair. Its not right. Its a crappy rule.

But you are going to get called, fined, and yes even suspended now every time you do it.

Welcome to reality.

Roy knows the rules and has been warned before. Regardless if you like the rule or not, this on is all on Roy. At least this seems to be a game that we might be alright without him back there.

Why do I care that other people have agendas?

And why does it matter to this argument?

Do you really expect for Roy to be thinking at every second, "Well if I make this tackle this way, I might get suspended. And we might lose this game, which we are winning right now. If we lose this game, and the Packers ended up beating St. Louis, then we will need to win next week against Carolina. If I get suspended for this tackle I'm about to make, then I won't be playing in what may end up being one of the most important games this season. Maybe I should just dive for his legs."??

Just because Roy isn't that good anymore, it doesn't mean we have someone better on our bench.

No, you're responsibility as one of the highest paid players on the defense is to stay on the darn field.

yeah, go say those exact words to your defensive coach...see where you end up at...its called the pine...your job is to prevent plays

Again, this is not even remotely the first time he has been fined - in fact the firggin rule IS NAMED FOR YOU. If he can't make the play another way - DONT MAKE THE PLAY.

like I said, we'll see how you and some other people making this absolutely ignorant argument feel when he DOESNT make the play, and cites this rule and its enforcement as the reason...maybe it'll happen in the NFC Championship game or the Super Bowl, and cost us the game

If he wants to horse-collar someone to make a game saving play in the playoffs we'll talk - but right now its more important he be back for the whole game next week then stop that one stupid run.

and thats not what you think about on a play to play basis...its also not his fault we lost yesterday...another group of 11 or so players failed miserably to do their jobs, thats why we lost and now why these next two games are more important

Please, don't even go there.

why exactly?

Complete supposition. Means nothing.

and complete truth

Meanwhile the results of what he DID do are that he will not play at all in a game we need to win to ensure HFA.

I'm quite sure that was the last thing he was thinking of...even his own coach said he shouldnt be suspended...I bet we never see another player suspended for this, even if they get multiple penalties or are caught multiple times doing it

btw, Roy doesn't horse-collar as much as he used to

so he is getting in-tune w/ the rule, just the urge to horse-collar hasn't completely escaped him

After getting fined twice, yes I do. He has to be that smart.

And as others have pointed out if the other team's QB is faster than your SS there are other issues there.

or maybe he thought that was the only way to make that play, and he'd be right

your right it is an instinct. it is just hard for roy to stop doing, but he has to.

Just like offensive lineman (erik Williams) punching guys in the head and linebackers clothes lining wr, te and rb running wide open over the middle it became dangerous, they outlaw it and the players have to stop.

Hopefully roy will stop.

They outlawed Eric Williams move because he was constantly humiliating Reggie White everytime they played. They invented the Michael Irvin rule because he was abusing DBs all day, and they made up this bogus call simply to take part of Roy Williams game away.

Sorry, but the Cowboys, anytime they have a dominant player who has some unique style. they freakin' outlaw it. Wait till they outlaw Marion Barbers hit to the face.

And if anybody tells me the horse-collar is worse than a face mask, they are ignorant. You can easily snap a vertebrae and have a guy paralyzed.

I would believe that, only if I didn't see that he backed off on a couple of horse-collaring opportunities in the game

on that particular play though, that was probably the only way he was going to get McNabb down at that spot

I see you left out the rest of it, which went to the point you were making. He didn't know at the time that this game would mean so much. And he definitely wouldn't ponder that while chasing McNabb down from behind.

well right now there probably are alot of QB's faster than some SS's...do I need to go naming all of them?

also, if the other guy has a 15 yd or so headstart, you have to be pretty damn fast to catch up, right?

It's the rule, whatever.

Football is a dangerous sport, played by dangerous people who are blown up to enormous proportions. There are any number of things that are incredibly dangerous. Now, we have a postage-stamp sized portion of QB taht defenders are allowed to hit, and a method of tackling that ensures the runner's progress is stopped by players with strong hands is outlawed. If that's what people want, bravo. Not for me.

Roy violated the rule, he gets what he gets. I just think the rule is bogus. Maybe soon we can get women on the field.

So now the new argument is it is somehow alright and should be unique to him "because he has strong hands"?

Oh please.

you see Aaron Glenn horse-collaring many people? the part about Roy having strong hands, which is why he horse-collars, isn't as ridiculous as you make it sound
