Businessis about to pick up around Valley Ranch once again, when the Cowboys’veterans begin their 14-week off-season workout program on Monday.

Overthe last few weeks players have been migrating back to North Texas from acrossthe country, many stopping by the facility to train with strength andconditioning coach Joe Juraszek on a regular basis. On Monday, though, thepreparation begins in earnest, with most players getting in their first of 56 scheduled workouts over the spring and summer months.

Whilethe training is voluntary, near perfect attendance is expected. Players are tocomplete four workouts a week, on a schedule of their own choosing. Most settleinto a Monday-Thursday routine. The Cowboys tailor workout programs to eachplayer individually, though the three-and-a-half month schedule also includeson-field training in groups, and four weeks of OTAs (organized teamactivities).

TheCowboys will hold a rookie mini-camp the weekend after the NFL Draft, followedby a crash workout program for the team’s first-year players. Trainingcamp will begin in mid-to-late July.

Are the players required to show on Monday or is this stuff optional?
