Playing The Percentages With WR Roy Williams

Posted by nickeatman at 10/17/2008 1:57 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

Cowboys wide receiver Ray Sherman seems impressed how quickly Roy Williams is picking up the offense.

“I would say right now, he’s probably got about 25 percent of the playbook down – and that’s pretty good,” Sherman said after Friday’s practice. “And we don’t use all of that at all. We’ve got a good game plan for him this week.”

But when asked about knowing about a quarter of the offense, Williams scoffed.

“Yeah maybe, but I would say I know about, oh 80 percent of what we’re going to do,” Williams said. “I’ll be in there this week in spot duty. I can’t do everything, but I have a good idea about most of it.”

Sherman said the Williams could be most dangerous around the goal line, but that’s not the only place he’ll be used.

“Oh, we’ll have him out there way before the red zone,” Sherman said. “He’s a smart guy. He’s picked things up pretty well this week.”

Again.

My first play from scrimmage would be downtown to Roy Williams.

Complete, incomplete, interception.

I want everybody to know right away that this player must be reckoned with immediately.

Couldn't agree more. That will definitely make them think twice about tripling TO :D

:hammer:

about 75% of the time he will come down w/ it, if it's in the area and somewhat well-placed

he's a physical WR, the perfect complement to TO

Not with you. If the Rams choose to double Williams on that first play, then they are showing they know he's a player to be reckoned with and we need to go to the open man.

First time he's singled up, though ...
