Tackles Adams and Colombo Out Again
Posted by jellis at 8/14/2008 6:01 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

The Cowboys starting offensive tackles, Flozell Adams and Marc Colombo are getting their second afternoon of rest in a row here in Denver. This is at least the fifth time the two bookends have been held out of practice for rest purposes since camp began.

Both are expected to play in Saturday's 8 p.m. (CDT) preseason game against the Broncos.

The break for Adams might come as a relief to the Broncos' Marcus Thomas. The second-year defensive lineman nearly had his head bashed in this morning during 11-on-11 drills.

Thomas shoved Adams after a play - Adams then ripped Thomas' helmet off and began swinging it at his head before both teams scrambled to break up the fight.

Also sitting out for the Cowboys are cornerbacks Terence Newman (groin) and Quincy Butler (hamstring), linebacker Anthony Spencer (bone bruise) and defensive end Marcus Dixon (back).

Good.

The young guys need the practice time more than Flo and Colombo.

Yea because we all know Flo and Columbo have to be out there, proving how good they are right?

Who says we need to see the young guys, screw them lets keep starting them until they go down with injury

....I believe in what you're saying, but I certainly don't think that they don't have anything to work on.

Something that needs to be worked on in back to back practices, on back to back days?

They were only held out in days where they had back to back practices on back to back days (except Wednesday when they were held out)

They are both seasoned vets and there are still three Preseason games to play with the accompaning practice sessions. I doubt that they have any issues that can't be worked out in that amount of time. We don't need them perfect for the preseason games...just for the opener and going forward.

I for one am glad to see Wade resting some of these veteran guys even at the risk of them not being in top form when the gate opens. Its a long season with some room to grow into it.

Its a gamble, but one I think is worth taking.
