Tank Slow To Motor Along

Posted by mickshot at 9/24/2008 4:03 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

While the Cowboys thought on Monday nose tackle Tank Johnson didn't suffer too serious a sprained ankle in Sunday night's win over Green Bay, he was somewhat limited in Wednesday's practice.

"Tank said he was getting better hour by hour," Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said.

As expected wide receiver Sam Hurd and outside linebacker Anthony Spencer "practiced the whole practice," Phillips said, and acted as if both will be available for Sunday's game against the Commanders.

Also, with veteran guard Kyle Kosier out at least another two to three weeks after aggravating the sprained ligament in his right foot, the Cowboys had recently-acquired veteran guard Montrae Holland taking a few first-team snaps in Wednesday's practice. Phillips said Cory Procter would start for Kosier at left guard, as he did in the first two games of the season, but that Holland could get some snaps in Sunday's game. Holland was active for the first time Sunday against Green Bay since arriving in Dallas.

We just came off a VERY rough 3 game stretch-I'm glad we came out unscathed with few injuries. Would have preferred to be completely healthy, but nonetheless much better than I thought it would be.

And thankfully we're getting Spencer and Hurd back so that really helps out, overall, on the injury front.

Brian Broadus said Kosier looked awful in that Green Bay game and we would actually be upgrading by getting Proctor back in.

He said Kosier just looked like his foot was still a problem and it looked like his lower body strength just wasn't there.

ALSO

He said Leonard Davis didn't have that great of a game for Leonard Davis standards.

He just looked average.

No killer injuries yet but lots of nagging ones. I hope Spencer isn't rushing back ala Kosier.

Even if it's garbage time (pretty much what the 4th quarter will be) I'd love to see this.

I'd definitely agree.

The line seemed to take a step back with Kosier out there. And Romo faced more pressure than he had in both prior games combined.

It will be interesting to see how they look against Washington and if they return to dominant form, Kosier may end up watching as the team's utility lineman.

I think the team is as eager as some of us to see what Holland can do with this line.
