So we touched on the Cowboys' troubles scoring in the red zone earlier today - bear in mind this week's opponent is pretty good at making those stops with their backs against the wall, ranked third in the league in red zone defense.
But offensively Atlanta has also had some success in an area the Cowboys have struggled to defend, the two-minute drill. Improving the two-minute defense and red zone offense were the Cowboys' top bye week priorities.
We may see how much the Cowboys have improved defensively this week, since Atlanta has enjoyed some recent success running the hurry-up offense.
Against Chicago Sunday night, both of the Falcons' first half scoring drives came when they employed the no huddle. A lot of the Cowboys' struggles in two-minute situations have been late in the game, so could find out if those were an example of the unit being tired, or if they aren't thinking fast enough.
Wade Phillips said last week he wants his defenders playing in those situations like every play is third-and-7, and in practice he was waiting until the last moment to send in the defensive calls, trying to get the players used to the mental side of the hurry-up.
Expect Atlanta to see if Phillips' bye week emphasis paid off.
