Just got back from the Lunch Break show with DeMarcus Ware joining us today. Make sure and check us out about 11:30 a.m. (CDT) every day on the site, and especially on the two-a-days practices, that’s when we’ll have a special guest. Promise, we’ll go longer than the 20 minutes we went today.

We asked DeMarcus to name some of the guys that are looking good so far, and he gave us names like Jay Ratliff, Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Bradie James. Thanks, a lot. Now we know the Pro Bowlers are doing well.

But when I pressed a little bit more to give us some younger guys, he talked a little about rookie Brandon Williams, a pass-rusher from Texas Tech. There’s something about this guy that Ware really likes. He made a point to work with Williams after a few of the mini-camp practices this summer.

He’s got some real potential, but so does Victor Butler, another fourth-round pick from Oregon State. He might have gotten a late start because he was in school until the middle of June, but Butler should be able to compete with Brandon Williams for that third spot behind starters Ware and Anthony Spencer.

Ware also talked a little bit about his contract situation, only saying that he doesn’t even think about during camp because he’s under contract and knows nothing can change at the moment.

We’ll see if Bradie James – tomorrow’s guest on the show – will be a little more entertaining.

There has been a lot written about the third outsider linebacker needing to be available to spell Anthony Spencer.

But what if both rookies are ready to get some snaps this season?

I know the coaches don't like sitting Demarcus Ware, but would it hurt to spell him as well for a series in each half?

He just might hide behind the cooler for Butler and Williams;)

My money is on the following depth chart:

B.Williams will be the backup to Spencer.
V.Butler will be the backup pass rush guy behind D.Ware.

This defense is going to be awfully disgusting...

In a good way. There's depth galore everywhere.

OLB could be a position of strength for years. These guys are all young.

Neither rookie OLB has done much to impress me in camp.

Of the Cowboys rookie linebackers, Victor Butler looks far ahead of Brandon Williams and Jason Williams. He has shown nice skills as a pass rusher.

Well then cut them all!
Did I say that? I'm just saying this isn't a place that warrants much optimism this early. It will take these guys years to develop not weeks.

I'm sick of Broaddus! He'll agree with anybody on the radio. Why isn't he scouting any more btw??

B. Williams is my breakout player of this camp...rookie anyway. Spencer, Ware, Butler, and Williams rushing the QB.....cannot wait!
