Just got back from the Lunch Break show with DeMarcus Ware joining us today. Make sure and check us out about 11:30 a.m. (CDT) every day on the site, and especially on the two-a-days practices, that’s when we’ll have a special guest. Promise, we’ll go longer than the 20 minutes we went today.
We asked DeMarcus to name some of the guys that are looking good so far, and he gave us names like Jay Ratliff, Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Bradie James. Thanks, a lot. Now we know the Pro Bowlers are doing well.
But when I pressed a little bit more to give us some younger guys, he talked a little about rookie Brandon Williams, a pass-rusher from Texas Tech. There’s something about this guy that Ware really likes. He made a point to work with Williams after a few of the mini-camp practices this summer.
He’s got some real potential, but so does Victor Butler, another fourth-round pick from Oregon State. He might have gotten a late start because he was in school until the middle of June, but Butler should be able to compete with Brandon Williams for that third spot behind starters Ware and Anthony Spencer.
Ware also talked a little bit about his contract situation, only saying that he doesn’t even think about during camp because he’s under contract and knows nothing can change at the moment.
We’ll see if Bradie James – tomorrow’s guest on the show – will be a little more entertaining.
