IRVING, Texas – There was a bit of confusion Tuesday when defensive tackle Davon Coleman limped into the Cowboys locker room on crutches. The rookie notched two tackles in the win against Tenness... It turns out he rookie strained his calf during a weight room session on Monday, the team’s off day from practice.

I’m happy it happened in the weight room and not the field – it’s not too serious,” he said.

Coleman said he was doing squats when he suffered the strain. Crutches tend to signify a serious sort of injury, but Coleman said he has spoken with head athletic trainer Jim Maurer and doesn’t expect to miss much time.

Defensive tackle Davon Coleman is on crutches after injuring his calf lifting weights. Still optimistic he'll play Sunday.

Sounds like he went a little super heavy and didn't have a good squat position. Then mis planted a foot. If done strictly on a machine, then bad form to start.

Happened to my cousin before. Didn't keep him out long. They've been splitting McClain at 3-tech anyway. I don't think it changes much. Melton/McClain at 3, Hayden/Bishop at 1. I'm excited to see what Bishop can do.

Same here. Hopefully he's been boning up on his technique.

I honestly don't know much about Coleman. I know he's a pure 3-tech and the coaches seem to like him. I've always been big on Bishop, though he's purely a project 1-tech with physical talent and potential to be a beast with the right coaching. McClain is our most versatile interior lineman.

Bishop active, Coleman inactive.

Yep.

Coleman had 19 snaps on Sunday but he didn't do much with them except spin around a lot. They should be able to fill in those snaps without a beat if he can't play. McClain can fill in at 3-tech.

They slid Mincey inside for a few plays in the nickel on Sunday and he created some pressure and I thought he looked decent.

I'd like to see what Bishop can do.

He's on crutches and says he will play this Sunday. I ain't believing that until I see it. I am expecting to get the official 'day-to-day' diagnosis which will actually mean 4-6 weeks.
