He also commented on how impressed and shocked he was in the shape Darren McFadden showed up to camp.

For those that think McFadden is a goner, I believe they will be disappointed. Zeke was brought in to be a 3 down back but if Zeke was unable to perform those duties for whatever reason, McFadden is the only other back on our roster that is versatile enough to handle those duties and he also has the trust in the coaching staff which says a ton considering how reluctant they are to put a back with less experience in the backfield with their aging QB.

Morris will be the one fighting for a job, he is just not versatile enough to be the main back in this offense. If Zeke shows he is a better short yardage option than Morris, Morris doesn't make this team IMO. He could stick around until Dunbar comes back though.

All 3 should be on this team. Zeke is a combination of Morris and McFadden. All 3 create an ideal situation.

It'll be interesting to see how it shakes up. I think Dunbar is a goner for Jackson and I can't see both McFadden and Morris being kept.

We should be so lucky to have this dilemma! Kudos to the powers that be for putting us in this position.

Actually I can see Morris being here.

Dunbar is gone.

I also see us using a 2 back offense like the old days.

Having DMAC and Morris opens up a different playbook instead of just feeding Elliot the ball 30+ times a game.

The team needs to use its Committee it has been talking about for 10 years.

Now we have one.

I haven't been this excited about a RB since 22 was here. I'm starting to really like this guy. You can tell he's eager, and he seems to be one of those guys who "gets it". I like that DMC is helping him and that he's open to the vets mentoring him. If Red, Tony, JW, etc, can turn him into a team guy, a Cowboys first guy. He can literally become the face of this franchise. I know that belongs to Tony and Dez right now. But if he can stay humble and not pull the "primadonna" stuff too much, it's going to be really fun for a long time.

I have to admit, I smiled a little bit myself when Elliott talked about putting the star on. He had a big smile on his face and I got the sense that it was a big thing for him. I like to see young people reach goals and it was clear to me that this was a big moment for him. I hope he breaks all the records.

Why would we keep Dunbar over anybody? He's not reliable.....

I don't disagree. I'm just saying if it comes down to Morris/McFadden, Morris is gone because he has no versatility.

I am hoping Jackson makes the team somehow; Dunbar is likely pup so unless we go with 4 backs, someone has to go.

I agree. The team likes Dunbar though and he is a pup candidate. We put him on PUP and kind of have him as a reserve late in the season when/if injuries start to become a factor.

I say the best back for the job gets it and McFadden must prove that will be him. If he doesn't. It will be Morris.

I don't disagree but Morris is going to have a tough time convincing he is the better back. He may be a better short yardage option but he is not better at anything else you want from a running back.

Honestly, I'd be real surprised if the people saying McFadden should be cut are any different from the people that never wanted him here in the first place.

There is, quite literally, no reason to cut the guy - other than you just don't like him.

I didn't like him as a fit for our offense in the first place, but I like the guy personally. He's got the ability to play in a 3rd down capacity somewhat if you need him to (unlike Morris), and he's the only guy on the roster who could legitimately step in as a 3 down starter if you needed a backup. If Morris plays well, though, he's younger and on a two year value contract where McFadden's only got the one year. That's the only legit reason to consider keeping Morris over McFadden.

That said, Morris was a CYA signing in case we didn't take Zeke. Now that we did, he's got to be looking over his shoulder. A two-down back who can't catch and isn't a particularly good blocker and who has no contract protection is a bad thing to be in this backfield.

Just a rookie saying the right thing.

I'm sure OTA's weren't "shocking" to a star from Ohio State.

That's what I meant, not suggesting people are basing their opinions of the safety of his roster spot on whether he stole their girlfriend or not. :D

I agree with the rest of what you said, btw.

Morris' 1st year money is guaranteed. DMC not.

Who's playing on ST?

Coaches need to figure that out. Think outside the box. I've seen Bill Belicheck use WRs as CBs. I have seen him use Rodney Harrison at the LOS to jam Randy Moss and actually use a CB over the top to protect against the deep ball. We want to be a running team this year. Just tbecause we used the #4 overall pick on Zeke does not mean he has to be Adrian Peterson this year. We need all 3
