IRVING, Texas --
IRVING, Texas -- In all my years of scouting players, I can honestly say until today that I had never sat down and studied the Pro Bowl on tape. I am sure you are wondering why the sudden change of heart? My curiosity really stemmed from how the first time players Travis Frederick and Zack Martin played.

If you asked me to describe the pace of the game, it was very similar to what you might see during a Wednesday practice where the defense is trying to give the offense a good picture by taking three really good steps then shutting it down in order to protect each other.

It was this way across the board with the one bi exception -- J.J. Watt working against Tyron Smith. The intensity that Watt showed was similar to what he had seen from him when he battled Smith during that early October meeting between the Cowboys and Texans at AT&T Stadium.

On the fumble recovery, Smith had taken him clean out of the play. The only reason Watt did anything was because the RB dropped the ball.

This to me is extremely impressive bc you'd think he'd need to be very prepared to shut down a guy like J.J. Watt, but I doubt he was studying a bunch of tape again and preparing too hard getting ready for the Pro Bowl. As players like Romo and Witten are getting older, it's comforting to know that Tyron Smith (24,) Zack Martin (24,) Travis Frederick (23) are still a few years away from even reaching their potential primes.

I just hope the Cowboys have a capable quarterback when the line reaches its prime.

Sounds like Broaddus had to really come up with something to mean his article deadline.

Not for nothing, but I think Tyron is an excellent LT.

I think if you had another excellent LT, he would be Walter Jones good at RT.

AS a side note, does the league purposely choose the ugliest uniforms possible for the Pro Bowl.

Not that it matters, I don't watch it. I also don't go watch amateur softball games with fat civilians grasping at one last hoorah before they get a sports injury or a heart attack. Meaningless exhibition games are like the Hallmark channel to me. I know there is content there, but see nothing which could distract me from trimming my toenails.

I am getting cranky in my old age.
