Waived:

WR Chris Boyd: The year off from football did him no favors. Love his height but did not always see him separate in routes. Would physically get beat up off the line and wasn’t as consistent catching the ball as he needed to be.

P Tom Hornsey: Was added to the roster late when Cody Mandell proved he couldn’t handle the responsibilities of being an NFL player. My initial impression of Hornsey’s work was how awful he could look in pregame -- then he gets to the game and he just hammers the ball. When I did see him get a chance to hold for Dan Bailey, I knew that he had little chance to make the roster.

LS Casey Kreiter: Was impressed with his work during training camp and in these preseason games. Would not be one bit surprised to see him snapping in the NFL this season. Accuracy was strong.

DE Adewale Ojomo: Better suited to play as a defensive end but had to take snaps inside at tackle. Just not strong enough to handle playing inside like that. Physically it was a bad matchup for him.

G Wayne Tribue: Reminded me physically of those guards that played in the 1970’s for the Los Angeles Rams, with their big barrel chests and short arms and legs. For a man his size, did not play strong and struggled with the necessary feet to sustain his blocks.

Strange why we tried to force Ojomo into a DT role. Glad he caught that because it was rather glaring.

S Matt Johnson: On a personal note I feel terrible for this player because I know that he has the talent and ability to play in this league. It’s a shame that these scouts that fought for him and the coaches that stuck with him will never get to see him line up and play here.

Now that just stings.

Why does it sting?

Just because a player became a pet organizational project means there was a lot of failure across the board.

This is a results business. Sorry. Players have to play. Unfortunately that is a job requirement.

I do not feel sorry for anyone that "fought for him". I think they won from what I see.

It is pretty rare a reach in the draft gets a two year free ride.

It doesn't really sting. I only pointed it out because Risen was making the exact opposite point in another thread, and I figured he'd be along eventually to refute it some more. Could you send out the Batsignal so we're sure he sees it?

What did it cost the Cowboys to throw him on IR twice? They saw talent in the guy. They did much more scouting of the player and spent much more time with the player than you did.

It is the height of arrogant tomfoolery to think you have a better read on the guys talent than they do. You call him a "reach." How many draft boards are you privy to?

Ahh opinions and buttocks...

TE Jordan Najvar: Freak injury in Miami late in that contest. Would have liked to have seen him get to the practice squad, get some work on the scout team and develop some strength. Now heading to the injured reserve, he will have plenty of time to work on that strength.
There was a buzz about Najvar after we signed him. Could be one to watch next summer.

Newsflash - The Cowboys liked him.

Well I couldn't possibly argue against the Cowboys' front office and that personnel department considering their stellar track record over the years.

The old straw man argument eh?

Word on the street was this front office also really liked Fred, Tyron, Demarco, Dez, Romo, Witten, Lee, Martin, Terrance....I could go on...

It cost nothing more in money...probably. Without going back and looking, I do think they used a roster spot on him for so time until finally putting him on IR at least one season. Not certain though. If so then he has cost the club something as well as the fact they cut other players to get to 53. I'm not the latter point matters as I don't remember them cutting anyone with significant rueage by those that matter....the team.

I think they did the right thing at the time. It's easy to look back thru time and criticize the moves but many people have said he can play in the league when healthy. It's just another in a line of hits for this defense.

He could get picked up by someone but my guess is will go thru waivers and we will try to rehab the guy once more. That's not a significant cost as the staff is already getting paid to work with him. They may offer him some money but it won't be much. Not saying he will go on IR but just part of an injury settlement. I'm not certain if totally release he can see the staff though.

My guess is they will sever ties completely and offer him a chance to pass a physical and come to camp again.

Which was my point. Minimal cost to keep a guy you like at a position of need. And the team is lambasted for it.

Meanwhile there are some guys who still rue cutting Danny Amendola (silly but it's true).
