I think that this group of Cowboys, and even without an active Zeke Elliott, or already on the road started at the beginning of this off season.

The Seahawks just lost Sherman, but they have not lost on consecutive weeks since 2015.

I'm seeing a real window with this group of players, that come together now, as a team. Losing QB Dak Prescott, LB Sean Lee, or LT Smith would be even worse losing. The running back group is strong enough to carry the load and not alter a productive offense. Heck, there are two 1,000+ running backs in the stable even without Elliott.

I'm not crying in my beer or fearing this weekend.

Awesome piece by Mick.

He doesn't get style points for his writing, but he aptly conveyed the essence of what Zeke's case means to all the players in the league: your dysfunctional NFL employer can use a mere accusation to steal your career.

No matter what the courts rule--or even when the justice system deems the accusation not worth trying...you can be struck down.

Seriously? You conveyed all of that nicely and succinctly in a short post. Mickey goes on at far greater length. His additional language contributes a bunch of technical inaccuracies, several semantic incongruencies and stylistic awkwardness. You make for a charitable audience.

One of my favorite lines from the piece (an example of semantic incongruence):

“...the NFL’s power to punish without a court conviction has for sure, or at least should have...”

What do “for sure” mean, Mickey?

How would the courts have ruled if the commish had ignored the not-guilty verdict on Lewis, and given him a 6 game vacation?
