I agree. You punt in that situation. I do see his point though. If they are going to score anyway, what’s it matter where they start? Your offense is your bread-and-butter. Give it a chance just stay on the field on fourth and short.

I agree. I guess the question is what's an acceptable 4th and short situation/distance? Especially from mid-field when you have lead and it's the 3rd quarter. If it's 4th and a half yard or so, take a shot.

I like to read Sullivan's take on things. He's level headed and rational.

However, he would have zero patience with a lot of the stuff that pops up on this forum. Love the Dak Prescott analysis, and I'm sure a lot of people here would like to read it, too....;)

He is right about Prescott, after the first quarter I thought "Dak is going to out-Rogers Aaron Rodgers". And he would have if the defense didn't collapse and/or Terrence Williams doesn't volleyball a pass into a defenders hands.

No, he's not. He questioned punting from mid-field in the 3rd quarter on 4th and 2 when we had the lead. Sorry, but you punt in that scenario unless you're behind by a couple of possessions. He also had some other questionable takes but it's not worth even mentioning since none have any real substance. But it's funny he questions why fans take the loss so hard and are so critical when we've seen these types of losses repeated time and time again.

I didn’t mean everything in the literal sense, just most. Our offense has scored over 30 points the last two games. The defense will have Sean Lee, hitchens, Lewis, awuzi, Irving on the field at the same time finally. The young CBS should be getting better I think they are making adjustments with jaylon and heath by reducing the snaps.

Not perfect but I’m optimistic, could totally see 8-8 though it’s the NFL.

SS you and I lock horns more my fault probably but I understand your line of reasoning and how you got there.

i dont care if we "lock horns" you back up what you say. Im not saying my opinion is the right answer. i at least try to back up my claims as well. I dont say Dallas sucks and leave it there. I am still befuddled how Wilbur is still on the team.

I still think its smarter to dump Kellen and use his roster spot for a PS member. At this point id rather see what we have in the younger guys and let them play.

Great article, avoid anything contraversal. Keep it simple and positive. Hey guys we got some crappy teams to play, forget about other teams, we can beat the bad ones. Buck up buckeroo, we find 4 crappy teams and notice we need help from other teams, the dallas cowboys will be a ok because ranger ron says so cowpokes.

Excuse me while i vomit, and die so i can raise from the dead and do it again. A cesspool of mediocrity and we are told to celebrate.
The article says none of that.

This fellow is something else. He tries to come off as a reasonable critic, but at the same time takes a small percentage of the other side and broadens it to apply to all "negative" fans. And he has the gall to also include luck as a "reasonable" factor to explain a loss.

Here’s what befuddles me, and really not just the last few days. This has been an ongoing befuddlement for some time. Why are Cowboys “fans” like they are? And it’s not just social media, either. That’s an easy copout, but when I first moved down here from Boston right out of college, in 1997, I was absolutely blown away by the negativity, the personal affront, of those who follow the team.

Also, they don’t always know what they think they know. I mean, really, has anyone ever blamed the offense when a baseball team scores 10 runs and loses? Has anyone ranted and raved about a hockey team’s lack of judgment and scoring in a 7-6 defeat? Yet this has been an ongoing theme for the last decade with the Cowboys.

You came from Boston in 1997 and think the DALLAS fans are negative? Did you not listen to the Red Sox talk shows in those days? :)

If we turn it around you should stick to your guns and teach them a lesson. “Fool me once shame on me fool you... Fool me, you can’t be fooled again” to quote a famous orator.

I think the last 20 years is a lesson that should be taught

Ok. How would that be done?

Have I learned? Have you?

It’s understandable being a fair weather fan, a negative fan, a realist, whatever. This guy and many others see a real change. Maybe we need a new staff. Maybe we turn it around and make a run. We have an excellent young qb and plenty of other positives. We’re two games back. 1.5 after tonight and we have 11 to go.

I’ll choose to buy his article and stand by my normal position. You may do the same or obviously what makes you happy, mad, or satisfied.

Sullivan is right about the fans and the local coverage of this team. It's bizarre.

Jourdan Lewis is eventually going to be the best CB we've had a very long time.

Sullivan picked Heath for the pro bowl in his preseason article. I repeat, PRO BOWL. He's going for Mickey's spot.

Uhhh, luck probably is a HUGE factor in any game. Unless you think the best teams always win with some referee bias thrown in, how do you think "luck" does NOT play a huge role every week.

The oblong ball often bounces weirdly, a gust of wind can blow a FG off just enough sometimes, losing a coin flip in OT can result in a loss otherwise which would have been won, a cramp or hamstring can pop at a very bad time, etc.

Luck does not result in your defense getting torn to shreds in the second half after your offense pretty much dominated the first half of two of the three losses. That is not even mentioning getting the daylights beaten out of them in Denver.

Luck is having a potential reception getting batted away on a great play by a defender. Luck is having a ball bounce out of bounds when trying to recover it. Luck is losing the coin toss to start OT. Luck is getting a bad officiating call against you. Luck is having a punt hit someone on a weird bounce resulting in a turnover.

Luck is a rationalization/excuse device fit for a fool.
