Totally disagree about Barber...because if that was an audition to start, he failed miserably. He didn't get going until their scrubs entered the game.

I liked what I saw from Carpenter last night. His blitz opened the door for Obomese's tipped ball to Davis. He had back-to-back plays where he stuffed the runner inside, than moved to defensive end and pressured the QB into an incompletion. He also was the leader on defense, calling the play, moving people around, including adjusting Elam's coverage after the snap and put him in position to break up the play.

And the bug was a beetle.

I wanna know what rushing game you were watching

I saw marion constantly get stuffed, and pushed back over and over. Except for the two 3rd and long runs he had. Try again tommorow

Must have been on the 10, 8, 16 and 13 yard runs he had...

Would it help if he also busted runs of 13 and 16 yards too?

The game I saw didn't show Barber getting any real production until the 2nd half after all the starters were off of the field. Jones did quite well during the few runs he had and I'm convinced if they had ran him a little more there would be no doubt about who the starter should be. Barber got stuffed constantly in the first half. I'm not completely sold on Jones but fyi, bias does not make for good journalism.

Barber's runs were:

4, -5, 4 versus their first team.

5, 2, -1, 2, 2 versus the first and second team. That's 8 for 13 yards.

When he went against the second and third he went:

5, 1, 16, 13.

Like I said, if it was an audition to start he failed.

He didn't have an 8 nor 10 yard run.

You are right he didn't have an 8 and 10 yard run did he, but you knew that he had cacthes which resulted in those yardage gains. So why didn't you say that? Hmmm. You corrected the runs by looking up the gamebook stats, but yet to failed to relay any info that would be a positive for MBIII.

I haven't heard reports of Barber "tearing it up daily" in practice, either.

Not saying he's been bad, but I haven't heard of him being anything extra special in camp.

And on the D, Ware will be a DPOY candidate. How many teams have more than one of those?

Ware is our most talented player at a position where all the good plays are seen by the world and the bad plays get ignored. It's no surprise he's the one talked about more than anyone else on D.

this is clearly an agenda on Barber. In fact, the more I hear about your "reporting" the more i realize you are some fan without any football knowledge from playing or real organized ball. Anyone with a decent football IQ and two pretty damn good coaches, plus all the draft experts, think JJ is better than Marion. Why do u think he got so much action in the 1ST preseason game. Same reason all the scrubs did--it doesn't matter as much if they get hurt. JJ gets 6 touches because it does.

Now, I think it's a great combo and Barber runs so hard that's it great as a change of pace when they are tired. But he showed he's not special as 1st string against fresh starters last night. Any other conclusion is sheer agenda. Shame on you for being the same as the typical media, because generally i respect your coverage and opinion

Truth is, Barber had two rather large gains (13 and 16 yards) on draw plays on third-and-forever... on his other ten carries, he gained 19 yards...

Don't know what's so impressive about that...

I didn't remember any 8 or 10 yarders, either... as you noted, 29 of his 48 total yards came on two draw plays on third and very long, when the defense was obviously looking for the pass... that leaves him gaining 19 yards on his other 10 carries, so if he'd had an 8 and 10 yarder as well, that would mean that he picked up exactly one yard on his other 8 carries...

Talk about spin...you specifically talked about his runs of 8 and 10 yards, so why should I concern myself with pass receptions?

You got caught exaggerating his game, why not just admit it?
