Cowboys Nation Wants A Blowout Win Or Else
After making it thru this week I don't think it's too much to ask that the Cowboys stomp the Lions from start to finish on Sunday. If the Cowboys come out and squeak one out over a 2-13 team then I can safely say there will still be plenty of fans out there who think the playoffs are a one and done scenario for sure. The way to really erase that terrible tasting Eagles loss is to abuse this woeful Lions team in every facet of the game. Tony Romo should be able to get back to playing on a Pro Bowl level, the running game should be moving the chains with regularity, Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn should have no reasons to gripe when this one is finished, the defense should be able to get off the field on third downs and come up with a few turnovers. If all of those things can happen then the Cowboys will look ready to begin the 'next season'. Let's hope the last few weeks were just a wake up call for a young team who now sees that it's time to show up and play solid football instead of just talking about doing it.
Coach Parcells Says The Cowboys Will Do Something Different On Defense
There are quite a few thoughts on this subject from different outlets. The fans are suggesting the defense will play more 4-3 defense in hopes of getting a consistent pass rush. The writers are tossing around the idea that the lineup may get a little tinkering and some players might see less playing time because of their poor play in recent weeks. I think all in all no one cares what the changes are as long as they work. This defense needs a spark that will ignite some fire and passion back into this unit. In recent weeks it has been paing ful watchign the 3rd down conversions being made time and time again. The Lions are dead last in the NFL on 3rd down convers as they only convert on 30.6% of their chances. Sounds good to me. The confidence that has been lacking from this defense can be picked up in one game if they can play smart football. I think the key thing to watch for from the defense this week is to see how they come up with some new ways of getting to the quarterback on these third downs. Since Greg Ellis went down the defense hasn't been the same. Let's hope there is major success on the changes and it can be used again during the playoffs.
The Cowboys Offense Needs To Control This Game
The offnsive line needs to bounce back in a big way against the Lions. These guys have been pretty solid all year and they should have a nice easy game against a depleted Lions defensive front. The Lions only have 26 sacks so far this season and I would hope they finish the season with that same amount. The biggest task for the offensive line is to make sure Julius Jones and Marion Barber are given holes to run through on first and second downs. Keeping the offensive drives moving and with some rhythm will also help the defense because they get to rest. If the running game is going well then Tony Romo can open things up down the field on some play action passes to his big weapons Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn. Let's hope we see a much more physical performance from the big guys up fron this week.
Finishing The Season At 10-6 With A Playoff Berth Is A Good Thing
I know we all still want to know what happened against the Eagles last week, but I think we should all move our thoughts to the future as hard as it may be to do so. No one can change the past and there is no sense in thinking about something you can't control any longer. If the Falcons can beat the Eagles then great. If they can't and we go to Seattle then that also great. Either way the Cowboys are still in the playoffs and still alive to win an NFL title. I for one am not going to let a few bad games ruin the way I see this season. This team fulfilled it's goal of making the playoffs and hopefully they can fulfill the goal set by us fans of winning the last game of the season in Miami. Stay positive people and keep thinking good thoughts!
Here's My Prediction For The Game...
The Cowboys come out and immediately take a 7 point lead on their way to a big win. Let's go with a final score of 31-10. The defense will have a big game and shut down the Lions weak offense. I could see a few sacks from Demarcus Ware because the Lions offensive line is filled with backups. Let's go Cowboys!
