Surprised, very surprised a deal didnt get done...…….especially when money was not the sticking point, but the length.

No way you can tell me that a compromise could not have been made, like a voidable 5th year if certain criteria is meet.

Its risky for both parties going forward. If Dak tears an ACL in the first game of the year, he can forget about a $37 million tag next year. Also, if no playoffs, dont see the team dropping almost $40 mill on him. Its a huge gamble by Dak, got to give him props for betting on himself but its risky as hell.

Now the team is not out of the woods either. They will either have to tag Dak again at almost $40 mill next year or let Dak walk in free agency. So who is the new QB in that scenario? Dalton? Go watch some Cinci games, he is no savior that is going to take us to the promised land. What about the draft? Well, problem is that the roster is too good to be a 2-14 team, so odds of picking in the top 5 or top 10 is not very good. That means a trade up like Philly did to get Wentz or the Rams did to get Goff. Price will be around 3 first round picks.

What if the team trades three firsts and pick the wrong guy? Lost of QBs in the top 5 bust, its a huge gamble for the team. That will set the franchise back for years and by the time you get the team back on track the core is then too old and you have to do a complete rebuild.

So its not exactly party time for either side, both are taking huge risks by not getting this thing done.

Kudos to Stephen for not capitulating to unreasonable demands.
Awesome. After 2020 we have a team without a franchise QB. Brilliant !! Lol

We caved in to everyone but our QB . Well done !!

i won't root against him as long he is wearing the star. but, man, it's hard to root for a guy who turns down $110 million guaranteed and up to $35m/year.

there are talented quarterbacks coming out of colleges next year, too. looks like we'll be picking one.
