Write Your Way Into Blowing Up Texas Stadium

Some lucky contest winner is going to get to blow up Texas Stadium.

The city of Irving and Kraft Foods provided details Thursday of their sponsorship deal for the building's implosion -- including a national essay contest with the winner getting to pull the trigger that finishes off the iconic stadium.

The City Council unanimously approved the sponsorship deal with the mac 'n cheese makers Thursday. Details on the essay contest, part of Kraft's "Cheddar Explosion" promotional campaign, will be announced next week.

The storied stadium, known for the hole in the roof and home to the Cowboys from 1971 to 2008, will cease to exist in March or April.

He may own stock, but if he does, it's less than 5% of the company. Warren Buffett is the largest single shareholder (9.4%) of Kraft Foods Inc.

Don't like this at all...

Total lack of respect for a historic venue. This is the City of Irving getting back at the Cowboys organization for going to Arlington...

And you KNOW it will be a Cowboy hater and ESPN will have every camera they own there to make fun of us...

Look at like you're putting a faithful old dog down to end his misery.

Hos, better get to typing. You'd have as good a chance as anyone I know of.

Of what value is an outmoded football stadium? The ground can be turned into a tax producing entity, while the old stadium only served to attract nostalgic old fans who wouldn't pay a dollar to visit.

If it makes anyone feel better, Staubach has mentioned more than once that he'd happily be the one to press the plunger to bring the old girl down.

Oh I'm not arguing it needs to be demolished, just that it shouldn't be made a spectacle of at the Cowboy's expense...

Exactly, let one of the old Cowboys or someone with ties to the organization (Brad Sham). What a completely disrespectful way to put the old girl down.
