Death Season to not only Wade but ...........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not just a death season for Wade Phillips......I truly believe this season is vital for both Romo and Garrett. I will go one step further on the Romo Situation and tell you if he fails to take the Boyz to the Playoffs and Win at least one Game, his season is a failure and going further maybe the end of his starting QB Position with Dallas. I just feel at that point the Owner, Coaching Staff, Media and everyone else's Grandmother would realize with proven results that Tony Romo simply doesn't have the Leadership Qualities to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a higher level. Now in saying this barring Injury, staying healthy the kid out of Texas A&M, Stephen McGee does possess the Confidence and leadership ability to do what Romo might not be able to accomplish. I actually believe that McGee if he stay's healthy might have a better NFL career than Stafford.

Please post your responses regarding the Romo situation. Does others feel as I do or am I jumping the Gun a little?

I went to Six Flags last weekend. There weren't any ducks.
Ducks exploit a variety of food sources such as grasses, aquatic plants, fish, insects, small amphibians, worms, and small molluscs.

"Duck is the common name for a number of species in the Anatidae family of birds. The ducks are divided between several subfamilies listed in full in the Anatidae article; they do not represent a monophyletic group but a form taxon, since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, mostly smaller than the swans and geese, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water.

Ducks are sometimes confused with several types of unrelated water birds with similar forms, such as loons or divers, grebes, gallinules, and coots."

Jumping the gun a little?? Uhhh just a tad.

I find it very amusing that a lot of people want to dog on Romo. In the infamous words of Mike Tyson, "It's Ludicrous!"

Romo is our QB so live with it. Just because he's not like Aikman or Staubach doesn't make him any less as a QB. He just as talented as both.

He gives us a chance to win each and every week. And, if are hoping that McGee becomes our next QB...keep hoping...that could take 5 years, especially with his background.

Now the coaching staff? They're all expendable.

I'd definitely say you're jumping the gun on Romo.

Phillips and Garrett are definitely coaching for their futures this season, but Tony Romo's place as Cowboys quarterback is not in jeopardy, for two years at least.

If he should continue to falter or possibly regress, then I could see the team looking to do something in 2011. But that would also depend on several other factors like financial impact, possible offensive transition, and McGee's development or lack thereof.

But take a look at what Romo has accomplished.

And compare that with the 31 other starters in the NFL.

And then come back and see if you'd be as quick to 'get the hook'.

A flock of Mallards in flight is called a sord.

Ducks can fly over 300 miles a day.

Mallard drakes and hens stay together until the hen lays her eggs.

The bright green plumage of the Mallard drake disappears to a more subdued color after mating season ends.

The ducks have a good hockey team as well.

I know I was listening to Brian Baldinger on the radio ni Charlotte this week, and he thought, or had real questions, about our offensive coordinator. Didn't understand why we couldn't pick up blitzes last year, or maybe produce plays to be successful against the blitz. Garrett is in a big year, no doubt.

Shirley Madsen, who turned 90 Thursday, survived three days trapped in her bathtub by drinking water from a rubber duck.
"I have never been so terrified in my life," Madsen, of Walnut Creek, said of her harrowing experience.
Madsen's daughter, Diane Weber, of Walnut Creek, said doctors at John Muir Medical Center-Walnut Creek Campus were amazed at her mother's ability to recover from days of little sleep or water, and no food.
The potentially fatal episode began when Madsen returned from a seniors' bus trip to Cache Creek Casino Resort on the evening of May 27. "I love the Indian casino. They have such wonderful buffets," Madsen said.
But she skipped the buffet before boarding the bus for home.
"I only had an egg and a half of a pancake for breakfast," Madsen said. "When I got home I was trying to decide whether to have dinner first or take a bath."
The spunky woman chose the latter, not expecting that she would be too weak to get out of the tub, and unable to reach anyone for help.
"When I tried to get out of the tub, I just didn't have the strength to lift myself out," she said.
Daughter Christine Steigelman, who lives in Camarillo, had talked to her mother during their regular 3:30 p.m. phone call, and called her again at 7 p.m.
There is a telephone in Madsen's bathroom, but this time, she forgot to place it next to the tub when she got in.
"When there was no answer, I thought it was bingo night,"

How does a QB who has not even hit his prime yet go from being one of the top 5 QBs in the league to backup status in one year?

The Big Duck

Field review by the editors.

Flanders, New York

The people of Long Island love the Big Duck -- or so we're told. The odd-shaped building, on the eastern end near the Hamptons, is one of the few good examples of roadside architecture within easy driving distance of New York City (next closest is Lucy the Elephant, down in Margate, New Jersey). Hence all the attention the Duck gets in any book or article written about wacky structures along America's highways.

In 1931, Riverhead duck farmer Martin Maurer built this 20-ft. tall, 30-ft. long eye-catcher using concrete (technically, "ferrocement") applied over a wooden frame. Taillights from a Model T Ford became its eyes, glowing red at night. Maurer sold ducks and eggs from the shop in its belly.

Vintage view.

Maurer drew his inspiration from odd structures he had seen in California, especially a building shaped like a >giant coffee pot. Shrewdly, Maurer patented his fowl creation, and the Duck became the darling of locals and travelers. This may explain why, in the world of architecture, any building shaped like its product is referred to as a "duck." Not a "coffeepot."

Maurer is long dead, and the Big Duck has shifted locale a few times. When the land was earmarked for development, giant duck preservationists and the Friends for Long Island's Heritage campaigned to save it. The owners donated the Big Duck to Suffolk County in 1987. In 1988 it moved from Flanders to Hampton Bays along Route 24 at the entrance of Sears-Bellow County Park. The shop still operates -- now as a tourism center for the East end of Long Island, selling duck souvenirs to flocks of city weekend-trippers.

Big Duck at Christmas time.

Each year, (the first Wednesday in December) the Suffolk County Parks Department sponsors the Annual Holiday Lighting of the Big Duck. Local school children sing "Duck" carols, and warm refreshments including hot chocolate, cookies and doughnuts are served. Visitors join in singing the duck carols while awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus, transported by the Flanders Fire Department. Once Santa arrives, the switch is flipped and the Big Duck lights up for all to see.

October 2007: The houses were never built, and so after 19 years the Big Duck has been moved four miles northeast, back to its old location in Flanders. The town reportedly plans to bring back the duck farm and open it and the Duck as a combined tourist attraction.
