I believe as a Cowboy fan we have wonderful talent at the Defensive Line position. I believe we could be limited on the number of Defensive line we could keep.

This is a list of Defensive-line::

Chris Canty
Marcus Spears
Greg Ellis
Kenyon Coleman
Vontrell Jamison
Jason Hatcher
Thomas Johnson
Jason Ferguson
Montavious Stanley
Jeremiah Ratliff
Samuel Taulealea
Stephen Bowen
Junior Glymph

My Predictions::

Chris Canty DE - Starter in the 3-4 situations
Marcus Spears DE- All Around Starter
Jason Fegurson NT- All Around Starter
Thomas Johsnon DT/NT- Starter in Nickel/Back-up 3-4 NT/Starter in Dime
Greg Ellis DE- Starter in Nickel/ Starter in Dime/ Situational back-up in 3-4
Montavious Stanley NT/DT- Clear Back-up to Jason Ferguson in the Dime and Nickel Schemes/ 3-string Back-up Nose Tackle in 3-4
Jason Hatcher- Back-up to Marcus Spears
Jeremiah Ratliff- Back-up to Chris Canty in 3-4
Kenyon Coleman- 3rd String
Vontrell Jamison- Practice Squad
Stephen Bowen- Practice Squad
Samuel Taulealea- Practice Squad

_________________________

I think that if Vontrell Jamison plays well, he could possibly move Cowboys to trade Kenyon Coleman, or Greg Ellis. Vontrell Jamison has the size to play in the 3-4 and the skills.
_________________________

Samuel Taulealea-
Taulealea finished his playing career at Concordia College after a stint at the University of Colorado where he was a two-time speed, strength and conditioning champion and holds the school weightlifting record with a 710-pound squat.
_____________________________________

Stephen Bowen-
Stephen Bowen finished his career at Hofstra with 168 tackles, 11.5 sacks and one interception returned for a touchdown. In his senior campaign he also posted 11 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and two passes defensed. As a junior he registered a career-high nine tackles at New Hampshire and recorded eight stops twice more while posting a career-high 68 tackles for the season.

10 d-lineman?

I just don't see it. Coleman doesn't make the squad.

Coleman isn't going to get us anything in a trade. Hell the guy was so putrid he didn't even suit at the end of the year... and that was with Ratliff hurt and no Hatcher on the squad.

And if Ellis is traded you're going to see our pass-rush take a big time hit-- I'm not liking that option at all.

If you could count. It's 9. The rest are practice squad

Must of been your half-arsed formatting. ;)

OK 8. :)

I still don't see Coleman making the squad.

Kenyon's time has run out. Too many young studs. He's a goner.

Exactly... I'd rather have a 5th safety (Coleman?) or a 6th corner (Jones?) or a 9th LB (Fowler?).

All those guys would be more useful than Coleman.

Agreed. Coleman makes this squad by injury only.

There is no way we keep 10 DLs plus 3 on PS. 6 minimum 8 maximum plus maybe 1 or 2 on PS at most.

Don't see us keeping more then 8 on the DL. We'll need all the slots we can get elsewhere either on the defense or on the offense--particularly on the OL. You also gotta figure we'll probably have at least 1 young (unknown at the present time) player who comes out of nowhere to make this team & who Parcells won't risk losing trying to get him on the PS. Last year it was Thompson, Ratliff & Johnson. I'll take a guess and say it's probably a WR, OL or defensive secondary player.

I think Canty could end up with more playing time then Spears. Just a hunch.
Stanley could very well beat out Johnson as the main backup at NT. I am thinking that Hatcher will be more active and probably will back up Canty while Ratlief backs up Spears.

Yep, I think Kenyon Coleman's days as a Cowboy are numbered... and that's a good thing, IMO.

He was a backup on a pretty good 9-7 team last year. A pretty good defense. Heck, he actually started until Spears healed up completely. Now, the fact that we've improved to the point of him probably not even making the team shows how deep Dallas has become on the defensive line.

The top 5 players there are all very good, with Ellis being in a special situation.

Spears
Canty
Hatcher
Ratliff
Ellis

Not to mention that Ellis is the only player with more that one years experience. They're going to be good for a long time.

FWIW, I see us keeping 8 players on DL... including Ellis:

Spears
Canty
Hatcher
Ratliff
Ellis
Ferguson
Pepper
Stanley

And that's a very good 3-4 group, IMO.

And if Dallas decides to keep nine, Asthma, I would like to take a flyer on
Samuel Taulealea. Another big wide body that can rotate in and plug holes.

that sounds about right. Though I give Taulealea a chance to make the main squad. I think he and Ratlief might be fighting it out for the last spot- maybe with Johnson- or all 3 fighting for 2 spots. The nickel DT slots could be a real dogfight.

I really feel that Samuel T. might just make the squad over Kenyon Coleman.

But if Kenyon Coleman transform that Training Camp/Practice ability that everybody talking about towards the on-field play I believe that the Cowboys got themselves a Monster at Defensive End.

As Micheal Winki said his days are numbered if he can't show anything on-field, cause the young guns are taking over.

A voice of reason amid the cacaphony of confusion.

Spears will be good, but Canty will be better.

WOW! That's saying something big. Both are good and have lots of talent, but from my opinion so far they both are half n half. meaning.

Spears is a better pass-rusher than Canty.
Canty is a better run-stopper than Spears.
Spears would be more of a sacker.
Canty would be more of a tackler.
