If you would take Lacy at this very moment over Escobar why not back in April when he was the top rated back and a higher rated player than Escobar? How could the top rated RB not be a better choice than a pass receiving TE in the Cowboys offense? The Cowboys can throw the ball but they struggle to run it. Did you expect the Cowboys to take a TE with their #2 pick? There's a lot things we knew back in April that we know at this very moment. We knew back in April the Cowboys had a big issue with their running game and most of us predicted Murray would miss games in 2013 due to injuries. We all knew the Cowboys would be looking for a back to replace Felix and one who could step in for Murray when he got injured. I have posts on the board immediately after the draft saying Escobar wasn't going to be very productive playing with Witten.

I certainly wasn't going out on a limb Witten has only missed one game due to injury his entire career so Escobar wasn't going to get many opportunities in the passing game. I could have told you back in April that Lacy would be productive spelling Murray and taking over for him when he got injured which I knew was inevitable. Most thought prior to the season that Hanna would be more productive than Escobar in 2013 seeing he showed some potential in 2012 and had one season under his belt. Most of us knew the running game was still going to be an issue in 2013 so Lacy would have been an excellent choice in the second round and the Cowboys could have moved down 13 spots to get him.

Was Lacy ranked higher than Escobar on the Cowboy's board?

I'm sure he wasn't or they would have taken him but he should have been ranked higher agree or disagree?

I'm not a scout. I know both guys carried decent ratings by many (different) so-called authorities.

If the Cowboys had Escobar rated higher, I have no gripe with that.

I know they rated Sean Lee higher than some other sources.

Me personally I would have liked to have seen Warford selected at #47.

Selecting a TE didn't excite me. Selecting Lacy wouldn't have excited me.

Lee was downgraded by many due to having an injury. He came to Dallas wearing a brace on his knee. The Cowboys have taken some chances with injured players who would have been rated much higher had they not had injury histories. Lee has been an excellent player for the Cowboys but he's missed games every year with an injury and it was that concern that scared teams off on draft day. I want to make it very clear I have no problem with Escobar as a "player" it's the "position" the Cowboys picked at #2 I had and continue to have an issue with. If Escobar has a big game in the final 4 weeks someone is going to claim I said he was a bad player and a bust. I want to make sure I'm making myself perfectly clear that I've never said that.

Escobar could be a wonderful TE for all any of us know but he needs the opportunity which isn't going to be easy to get with Witten who's Romo's security blanket and Dez the Cowboys big play threat. I'm just waiting for the opportunity to come for Escobar to have a game that shows why the Cowboys took him so high. If he puts up a couple of TD's in the redzone vs Philly in week 17 to help lead the Cowboys to the division title and the playoffs that will make him worth the pick in my eyes. All I'm looking for is for him to make an impact as a receiver and scoring a few TD's in the redzone every year would make an impact.
