McClain started the season off as Pro-Bowl worthy, but I'd venture to say his last 3-4 games would take him out of it in my mind.

Congratulations to Jeff Heath having a nice, steady season on special teams. Dan Bailey should be high on the kicker list.

How about adding Jones as the holder for Money Bailey!

Anybody who bashed Demarcus Ware lost a little respect in the bashing process. They don't really need to give anything back since nobody really took them all that seriously, right?

Bobby Wagner's getting a raw deal on the inside lb rankings. Unless his play has fallen off a cliff the last five weeks.

Apparently, the correlation between playing well and getting complained about on a message board is stronger than we thought.

Pretty sure the criticism of Heath was related to his play at safety last season, which was justified, if you remember. Probably not his fault, he was battle-field promoted into the role and was understandably over his head, but this year he has excelled as a special teamer. Good for him, and great for the team, but don't confuse the past with the present - two different realities.

We remember it differently. I recall people wanting him off the team entirely.

And he was a good ST player for us last year, too, so I'm not confusing past or present. Only commenting on the tendency of fans to complain about an outcome and to draw conclusions about players based of who they see in the frame of a camera shot when a big play is given up rather than pay closer attention or to have more reasonable expectations for what actually happens on the field. There's a reason why the coaches like the guy a lot better than your average message board poster does. That reason is the coaches know what they're talking about whereas many fans do not.

Nobody complained about him as a ST player last year, it was as a starting SS. You are creating a martyrdom that doesn't exist. BTW, you are a fan too, so stop trying to differentiate yourself, it's laughable.

So, there weren't posts and threads lamenting keeping Jeff Heath over Ahmad Dixon for the backup S/ST position this summer? I think you're just suppressing one of the many bad negative arguments we all endured. Or maybe we just remember things differently.

But I bet I could find multiple posts of 'realists' wanting a possible pro-bowl ST off the roster entirely.

As far as me commenting on the tendencies of fans goes, I think I'll reserve the right to do that. I'm not differentiating myself because I'm talking about a general tendency and nothing about that suggests that all fans do it. As to what you find laughable...I'm sorry, but I don't really care what you find laughable.

You can reserve your right to feel superior to the fans that you denigrate and somehow disassociate yourself from, and I maintain my right to find that differentiation laughable, after all, we are just expressing opinions.

Fair enough. Bear in mind, the fans I disassociate myself are what we commonly kindly refer to here as 'realists.' And I'm not criticizing them unfairly. Nor do I think I"m superior to them just because I'm more reasonable or because I tend to be less emotional than most of them. None of us should have to endure emotional overreactions and posts riddled with illogic and dramatic negativity and then later pretend that everybody's got an opinion and all opinions are equal. Some options are informed, and informed opinions do tend to be better than uniformed ones. The trick is just in getting the information right in the first place.

Laugh away, though, if that makes you happy. It's no skin off my back. We're all here just for fun, anyway.
