Defensively we are moving up.

Pts/Game = 18, Rank = 11
Passing/Game = 299, Rank = 15
Rushing/Game = 80.5, Rank = 7
Total Yards/Game = 299.5, Rank = 8

Even with our abysmal start against the Giants we are starting to pick it up. After the Buffalo game we should be even better statistically.

In my opinion, the best way to rate a pass defense is by opponent's QB rating. No other defensive statistic has a higher correlation with winning percentage.

In that statistic, we're ranked second in the league.

To whom? Please don't say New England.

It probably is New England.

Nors would know, being that he's a Cheats (aka Pats) fan.

We're also #2 in takeaways and (although offense is involved, too) tied for #1 in turnover margin.

Hopefully Dallas can pad some stats against Buffalo and get everyone back on the field in New England.

Call me crazy but I have this gut feeling Dallas may do exactly what they did to the Bears, yes New England has weapons o' plenty and the media hype to spin yarns of invincibility but I can honestly forsee the D stepping up and wrecking shop, doing what San Diego couldn't, revenge for Phillips and Stewart.

Beating teams like New England are why he was hired, to make a defense that could do the job.

I think that is 219 passing yards per game or I just don't understand math. :D

Just doing a little research... of all the QBs we've faced:

Bulger had his second worst game of the season vs the Cowboys with a 42 QB rating.

Rexy Grossman has his worst game of the season vs the Cowboys (easily).

Trent Green had his second worst game of the season vs the Cowboys with a 57 QB rating (he had a 55 QB rating vs the Raiders).

Eli Manning ... well, let's not go there. Let's just say, as usual, he played great vs the Cowboys. I swear, for some reason that punk always seems to play good vs the Cowboys.

You know...while I was watching the Patsy game and how they look real good execution style, something to me was missing when I thought how the Cowboys have been playing...and that is speed.

Yes, Moss is fast, yes Brady is a surgeon, yes Mumbles is a genius...but to me they just did not look like they have the aggression or the fun or the fury of the game like this current Cowboy team has...they just look like a team that has that mentality of, "yes, we are the Patriots...we can just go into a game and intimate the opponent because we are so great"...

In other words, I was not impressed and was actually bored...

Wait until they come with that "we are too good attitude" into Texas Staidum...watch and see!

Passing yards per attempt is a pretty good stat, too... We're #8 at 5.62.
Other than QB rating, it is probably the best.

But the great thing about QB rating is that it incorporates YPA, along with interceptions per attempt and touchdowns per attempt.

Uhh.... how can opponents' qb rating have the highest correlation to winning when KC is leading the league?

Well, it's not exactly a 1.000 correlation coefficient. It was something like 0.550, which as you can tell from the picture below is pretty good.

Dallas did shut him down in 2005 at NY.

12 completions
31 attempts
38.7%
152 yards
0 TDs
2 INTs
27.89 rating

Unfortunately in that game Bledsoe's numbers looked like this:

15 completions
39 attempts
38.5%
146 yards
1 TD
2 INTs
36.91 rating
1 fumble returned for a TD
