That stat is a product of time of possession. Are the Cowboys the best in the league in time of possession?

My two picks to represent in the Super Bowl. I think the Colts can take out the Broncos. But that's another subject.
Thanks for answering my question.

I think it'll be Baltimore in the AFC but the Colts look good.

Of all the stats and rankings coming out of this season so far, my favorites are...

ª 6-1
ª Teams 1-5 after playing the Cowboys.
ª #1 in yards rushing before contact, and after.
ª #1 in Rushing.
ª #1 in 3rd down conversion
ª 913 and 48.

the next closest, Matt Forte, has 28. That's two football fields.

Not exactly. It's at least 20 yards (assuming each of the 20 additional conversions was with one yard to go) and could extend to two football fields (assuming each additional conversion was with ten yards to go) or even more (since one can convert with more than ten to go).

Doubtless I'm being annoying. Sorry. It's just that, if we're bringing in stats to try to gain a more precise understanding of what's going on out there, I think we should be as precise as possible.

In any event, your point stands: it's very impressive. That's a lot of extra first downs. And in the end, that's what's impressive about it: it suggests that DeMarco is playing a big part in moving the chains, keeping drives alive and winning the TOP battle.

Maybe that's why it's so annoying to everyone (including me) for me to nit-pick your casual conversion of the stat into yards. While it's often helpful to express something in spatial terms (because it helps people "picture" magnitude) in this case (arguably in most cases) it's not the yards that count: it's all about first downs.

The stats completely back up the picture being presented...for this team, Demarco Murray is the face of the franchise. His role in the overall picture, is why this year's team comes together now.

The running picture, coupled with the youth of the offensive line...makes it all happen. It blends with the passing window, and makes Tony Romo that last step of quality...good.

Now is this groups window of opportunity to piece things together for about three seasons. That is why this fan is so adamant about putting to a new contract, both Murray and Dez Bryant. For a strong chunk of now, this team is where it needs to be on the offensive side...and the franchise just can't afford to walk on by...for a perceived healthy view of a pie chart series on maximum effectiveness of money flow.

That would be like replacing a nesting a real world set of birds being watch in one's yard, with an automated version of steel...and expect the same effects to come to one's eye. The value is then lost completely, if not managed to maintain the cherished elements, that function.

Expense can be maintained, even similarly to how cap deficit is overcome...and that is lower roster turn overs.

All the pundits for the last several years have said that the running game is all but gone in the NFL, and yet here are the Cowboys, proving that notion very wrong. Being that this is a copycat league, teams are going to hope that they hit on some lineman in the draft.

That's key. You can draft lineman, but you better hit on them to make it work. I praise our scouting department, Garrett, and the F.O. for sticking to a plan, and having a little luck fall their way.

I think you are on point with the Ravens. I agree. They are tough and are being overlooked.

I might be in the minority here but I think Denver is soft

Your not in the minority. Denver is a finesse team. They'll have a tough time beating teams that will out muscle them. Thats the reason why the Seahawks got the better of them.

Would be great to see Tony do some restructuring to ensure having Demarco & Dez.

I've seen some things against Denver that can definitely be exploited. The key is to take away Julius Thomas and key in on the run. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, while good, are not Dez Bryant good where they command double coverage.

Julius Thomas is their x-factor, for sure. On defense, they can be run on. San Diego just refused to run the football.

The running game and run defense will remain a high priority to success for this year's Cowboys.
