DeMarco Murray (Bold Prediction)

I agree. I'm just saying that Murray would last about 1.9 seconds in a real MMA fight before pulling something.

haha ya probably.

1: The most "in-shape" athletes are the African marathoners who can run 26 miles in just a little over two hours and have a resting heart rate below 40. Nobody else on the planet is even close.

2: The OP said he would have a good MMA career, meaning he would have to actually fight at some point. He'd sprain an ankle while warming up in the dressing room.

3: MMA fighters are certifiably insane. Impressive athletes, but insane all the
same.

yes but they are running through this......

Marathon runners also arent snorting a line of coke before their competitions ;)

In all seriousness though, I have it on good authority from guys who work in that business as medical personel that a lot of those guys load up on various substances before fights. Very few people, no matter how in shape they are, can take a beating like they do and keep going without anything take the edge off those punches. Some have kidney and liver problems because they always take a bunch of painkillers before and after fights.

Dana just perma-banned a pretty legit fighter for taking doctor prescribed testosterone and having slightly high levels. His levels were then re-checked the next day and were in the normal range.

As a Longhorns fan I'm happy to have Murray on the team. I think Murray is a quality guy and a very good player. He has dealt with injuries but this is football injuries happen and can happen to any one at any time. Not concerned with those things no player can control.

Can a guy play at least play 1 freaking down of preseason football, first?

I don't know if the kid will be anything special as a pro, but the two things that jump out to me in his highlight reels are 1) he's a shifty runner and has a remarkable ability to cut without slowing down in the open field and 2) he's incredibly fluid receiving the ball and seems to have a knack for positioning himself to receive the ball in a position to accelerate after the catch.

Who knows what he'll end up doing as a pro, but his addition, the subtraction of Roy Williams and Marion Barber, and the return of John Phillips have me excited about the kind of numbers Romo might put up this season. Every skill position has guys that are great receivers, and Dez, Miles, Felix, and Murray have breakaway ability after the catch. Maybe throw Ogletree in there too.

Like most NFL players drafted in the later rounds.....

Its a crap shoot.....lets see how this guy performs in games. From the vids...he looks shifty and smooth

And that is no insignificant ability for a RB. Especially in this offense.

This.

Since this thread is filled with bad logic, I will insert some bad logic of my own:

Hershall Walker played football. Hershall Walker trains for MMA.
DeMarco Murray plays football. DeMarco Murray trains for MMA.

Hershall Walker = DeMarco Murray

DeMarco Murray + Dallas = Championship

Hershall Walker = DeMarco Murray?

Does this mean we can trade him to Minn. for a boat load of draft picks? :laugh2:

Kidding I like the kid and think he will do well.

I think a lot of people around here are OU fans and are delusional... He runs stiff, goes down easy, and doesn't pick up his feet...

He has a lot of Arian Foster in him. If before you say anything, most of you guys would have laughed at Arian Foster a few years ago given that he was undrafted and all.

wow :bang2:

arian foster is a lot tougher than demarco. stop it u look foolish making these types of comments.

and this screams mma fighter?

No I just think he will be a terrible RB, and he already trains MMA so i just figured it would be his next logical step when he is out of the league.

GloryDaysRBack;4042764 said:
Are you suggesting he should stop his mma training and study the playbook more?

No. In fact, I don't know anyone else who is training MMA, so I dont know the impact of training MMA in football.

Not sure what you are even saying.

I think you are wrong.

Thanks contributing to my thread.

All I'm saying is that when a RB has vision like Murray has, it makes all of his other intangibles look alot better, especially on the pro level.

But you are talking about your perception of his "vision" based on college, with an offensive line that was often dramatically better than the competition could handle. You are talking about vision that has yet to be seen even in an NFL training camp, much less a game.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Murray will be all that some claim him to be, but for now he is a 4th round rookie RB like any other 4th round rookie RB, and as such noting is a given.
