Traditionally, Jerry does not like the franchise tag. They used it with Spencer but that was one of the few times we used. Spencer never had elite production, he was just a good, solid player we wanted to rent for another year or two. If Lawrence finishes this season with elite production, Jerry may open up the pocketbook considering our cap situation is solid for the next few years and we are already paying so little on the defensive side of the ball.

That's possible but depends on other factors. Do you pay elite money to a player with one year of elite production, injury history and a past suspension. Or do you tag him, see if he can stay healthy and then pay him
Big decision. If you could structure a contract like Lee signed where if he is on the field he gets paid and if not he doesn't that mitigates the risk but not sure many players are willing to take that gamble and I don't blame them at all

Dak's price will depend on what kind of QB he turns out to be. Game manager or elite. Or what is more likely somewhere in between.

And by then the price will still be 25 plus. No matter what.

It is clear the next TV contracts will not be huge increases; ad revenue is stagnant and shows no sign of increases. SO the NFL will have to find a LARGE amount of new revenue to keep the cap going up at the current rate.

That is rather doubtful so starting in 2023 at the latest I see a flat cap. The good news is that until then it will be going up a fair amount. SO we CAN work things to take care of our O line and Dak and probably Zeke if we want to before then. Now Dlaw will be a real question since top pass rushers are the only other players besides QBs that get massive contracts.
