Posted this in another link but this was in Peter King's article this morning:

DeMarcus Ware could have kept playing. He was working out, and he was over neck and back ailments that wrecked his 2016 season in Denver. Ware is 34, and he had a $9 million offer on the table for 2017 (he won’t say from which team, but Dallas is a best guess), and he felt he could have the kind of reborn season that would satisfy the football devotee inside of him.

No way at all Dallas would pay him $9 million this year. It was probably the Rams who felt they would have to overpay him to get him to sign. I still say he will be a Cowboy this year, either near the end of camp or between weeks 8-12. He may just be waiting to see which team is the best fit with the best chance.

This man played every play for the first 8 years of his career. He gave up his health for this team and now he is feeling the effects. I've heard several veteran players say it's the practice, the toll it takes on the body and not the game itself that makes continuing to be a player no longer possible. I think this is what happen to Ware. He still lives in Dallas and has stated he'd love to return to the Cowboys... but eventually the body can no longer do what the mind tells it to.

I believe he will be in the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 3 years and a first ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer.
 
There is literally no reasonable argument against Ware being in the HOF or ROH. He has all the regular season stats, all the awards, and he was outstanding in the Super Bowl. He was a great player on every down too.

I bet the Rams offered 9M. He met with Wade prior to announcing his retirement.
 
Tell him to keep in shape so that if we need someone at the end of the season during our playoff run, he can be brought back to help.
