If the Titans hire McCarthy as their new head coach, how messed up would it be if McCarthy takes the worst team in the league this year (2025 Titans) and leads them to the playoffs while we miss the playoffs again under these current coaches?

MM would be walking into a team with next to no talent, and zero has been done to build around their QB. Success won't happen overnight there, but if he gets full decision-making, it could be a quicker build than happened here when Jerry had full say in everything

A three game win streak and posters who had thought he was the worst coach ever started to say “now I’m coming around!”, the OP included.

One loss to Detroit on the road and he’s awful again.

In other words, he's calling me out as being wishy-washy and unsure of what I'm thinking and speaking of. Well, I answered him. Since the beginning of this season, he has consistently attacked me and complained of why have I been so hard against Schottenheimer. When I finally try to be positive, he still complained that it wasn't genuine and I shouldn't have been complaining against Schotty to begin with. Now with Schotty being 100% responsible for the lack of effort by 90% of the team and terrible playcalling that cost us the game last week against the Lions on a must-win game to try to reach the playoffs, I rightfully called out Schotty. Right on cue, this poster comes out calling me and others out.

Looks like he is the triggered one and can't handle constructive criticism.

I'm just saying, it would be beyond embarrassing for this franchise if McCarthy was hired and he pulled off some miracle by leading such a poorly built Titans team to the playoffs next year. It would also prove Jerry got it wrong and hired the wrong new head coach.

I don't think it would have an effect on Jerry; he is numb to criticism. If he were to be named HC and lead that team to the playoffs next year, he should be enshrined immediately. They are horrid, lol

Yes, I know you read his previous statement. What you didn't know is the pattern of comments he has made against me all season.

I have no interest in returning to McCarthy.

There wa little energy or excitement about teams and that’s what I think an head coach needs in the modern NFL. He felt like an throwback. Players didn’t respond to him and none of his coaches went on to do great work elsewhere despite him being a head coach for 15 years.

McCarthy’s main influence was Marty, so I’d say Bryan has that covered. What else could he learn from McCarthy that he didn’t see when he was a consultant on his staff?

I agree with running Schottenheimer’s offense. Our current offense is now much more varied and unpredictable. What makes you think McCarthy wouldn’t just take us back to our boring offense that had no play action or motion? We’re finally seeing some of the balance that McCarthy always promised but never committed to.

As to Harris, I think it’s clear he’s topped out. We were excited because we had a lot of interceptions when he was here but once he was responsible for more than the DBs, there just didn’t seem to be anything remarkable in his work. He’s basically doing the same job in Chicago as he did here. He’s their “passing game coordinator and DB coach” and he was ou “Assistant HC and DB coach”. The Bears current defense is Dennis Allen. Al is not running the defense.

This basically sums up where I am too. I'm fine with Shotty. Offense has continued to perform and seems a bit more creative on top of it. I also don't find myself thinking 'why did he make that decision' like I did with McCarthy. I would have liked to keep Harris with the CBs, but more importantly I don't get why we hired a zone DC when we have been drafting guys for press coverage and aggressive play for years. That is the head scratcher to me.
