Demote Schotty to OC, ReHire McCarthy as HC, Fire Eberflus, ReHire Harris to Asst. Secondary / D-C

I hope these coaches improve, but I don't see it, JC.

If the Titans hire McCarthy as their new head coach, how messed up would it be if McCarthy takes the worst team in the league this year (2025 Titans) and leads them to the playoffs while we miss the playoffs again under these current coaches?
I liked MM to a degree. And that has happened before. Look at the Bears this season.
But the Titans need way more help that that. The Bears had some very good players, and the light went on for Williams at QB as well.

Dallas has some players, but injuries derailed the 1st 8 or 9 games. That is not an excuse. But if they had a healthy defense in a few of the games, and if Lamb did not miss some games. I think Dallas would right there with the Eagles for the NFCE. Closer than they are now.

No. Just no. You must have missed the part where fat Mike never got us past the division round.
who was the poster back when MM was head coach that would get upset if we called MM "fat mike". He used to come on and say..i bet you guys weigh the same as you did in high school right?

*Note. I'm not calling someone out, I'm trying to give him a  because he was very funny how he worded it.

I will give Mike his flowers for those 12-5 years. But more should have been done.

What say you?

Cowboys under Mike McCarthy went 12-5 and playoffs bound three years in a row (2021 - 2023). Yes, they missed the playoffs in 2024, but Dak and half of the badly depleted team were injured for most of the season in 2024 as well.

Cowboys under Brian Schottenheimer (1st year as head coach in 2025) has drastically gone backwards. Currently, the Cowboys are 6-6-1 under Schotty, even though Cowboys offense and defense (mid-season) has been improved player personnel-wise in 2025 compared to 2024. Schotty has proven he is a pretty good O-Coordinator (offense ranks in the Top 5 in several categories), but he's not ready to be a head coach who can push his coaching personnel to be able to better use more talented players or build them into becoming a playoff-ready team. Schotty is another Garrett: buddy-buddy with the players.

Matt Eberflus has to go. He and his zone scheme is for the birds. Horrible hire who has contributed to most losses, drastically degraded the Cowboys defense to amongst the worst in the NFL, and stubbornly refused to play to the players best man-to-man abilities. Eberflus was simply a bad hire who has most likely cost this team a chance to reach the playoffs, his defensive strategy has tragically made this Cowboys defense worse, and he simply needs to go.

Al Harris was the Cowboys D-Secondary Backs coach from 2020 - 2024. Known for developing Pro Bowl talent like Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, and is now the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator and DB Coach for the Chicago Bears (2025-present) under new coach Ben Johnson. His Cowboys D-Secondary was constantly ranked 21st (2020), 10th (2021), 16th (2022), 5th -10th in different metrics (2023) and 15th - 19th due to injuries to key players (2024), overall Al Harris' D-Secondary was drastically improved in pass coverage under him compared to his predecessors even the those defenses overall struggled against the run.

In comparison, the Cowboys D-Secondary in 2025 ranks at best at 24th and amongst the worst in the NFL due to key player injuries and new but worse defensive coaches.

Matt Eberflus needs to go immediately, and so do some of his assistant coaches, especially at LB and the D-Secondary.

If the Cowboys get playoffs eliminated sometime during these last 4 remaining games in what has been a badly coached team in 2025, Jerry would be wise to bring back what coaches had the Cowboys performing better and consistently making the playoffs. Not all current coaches are losses. Bring back Mike McCarthy as head coach (2 - 3 year new contract), bring back Al Harris and move him to D-Coordinator/D-Secondary Asst, demote Brian Schottenheimer from head coach to O-Coordinator (he's not ready to be a head coach, could learn some more under McCarthy, and remain in Dallas where he could keep honing his skills with Dak during his current prime years), fire Matt Eberflus immediately as soon as this season ends, fire his LBs and Secondary coaches, ReHire Al Harris and some better positional coaches. Oooh, also immediately fire the Special Teams coach and bring in someone much more better, creative, innovative but disciplined if we want a much better performing and playoffs capable Dallas Cowboys team in 2026+.

2020 was first year 6-10 with a horrible D, BS on track to better that with a even worse D. I’ve seen it all, with rehire MM who should have been fire after the Green Bay massacre. Give BS a chance and hopefully something is done to improve the D and your take of get a new DC is hopefully going to happen along with spending some cap on the D side. Jerry is a O type guy he believes O wins championships but unfortunately the getting the lead to keep your D off the the field doesn’t work against good O teams when your O disappears for the first 2-3 quarters and the D isn’t the 85 bears D

I never quite understood why people hated the guy. I mean after Garrett, Mike was an upgrade. Unfortunately he could never overcome the incompetence in the GM chair.

This would be a total 'end of days' Al Davis move, so I say go for it. Let us know Jerry won't be around much longer.

He
did
not
attack
you.

He made a comment that triggered you.

Everyone gets triggered from time-to-time. Me included. That is not what made me shake my head.

His comment cannot be defined as spineless. However, you said he should grow a spine. C'mon man...
i think we all need to keep it within the guidelines

I am a moderator. I read practically everyone's conversations between each other every day. You may have never read me occasionally describe CowboysZone as home to the Hatfields and the McCoys...

I have read your comments to him, his comments to you, and viceversa. Y'all are not having conversations through DM's.
It’s a “pattern” did you check your chart and reference it with the 1000s of posts, keep up the good work and have a merry Christmas

“It’s just like anything else….” MM. No

If we're living in the land of make believe, why not go crawling back to Jimmy? Get the band back together. Norv, Wannstedt, Tony Wise, Butch Davis can call return.

Why futz around with half measures? I mean, 12 wins and playoff berths are cool and all, but since we're dreaming big....

McCarthy aint coming here and he resigned because he wasnt going to play the Jerry “will i sign him or not game”

McCarthy feasted on weak schedules and got worked in almost every big game we played in, including the playoffs. That he was allowed to return after the GB game when coaches like Payton, Vrabel and Harbaugh were available is astounding.
