instead of throwing another head-coach out there, how about his FS from Jax? he's going to be a UFA this offseason, and he's solid in both coverage, and against the run, although he doesn't excel at either, but that's better than Keith Davis or Pat Watkins, who Killer isn't solid at either, and Watkins so far, is only solid against the run

thoughts?

the Jag secondary has allowed only 11 passing TDs this year, 2nd fewest in the NFL, one below the league-leading Patriots, and this despite being below, middle of the pack in team sacks, with only 32, and the Jag secondary is only allowing QBs to complete 55.8% of their passes, 3rd best in the league, I know it's not all Deon Grant, but he's still starting at FS for them

note: the Jags are 3rd in the NFl in rushing D, so the pass D rankings aren't skewered

32 sacks, it's not a dominant group like last year

signing Deon would make for a wise decision, he's not going to break the bank, and is solid in all facets of the game, we don't need an All-Pro at FS, just one who can take care of his coverage responsibilities to allow Roy to roam near the LOS more

He'll only be 28 next year, it wouldn't be a bad move. But I'd expect Watkins to take over full time by next season, if he's the plan, and he shows good promise. We'd have been much better served signing someone similar THIS season.

I don't think Watkins will turn it around next year, we should have insurance in case he doesn't

yes, we should have made the move this year, but it's spilt milk now

I agree.

I think Watkins will turn it around next year.

I don't think it is a matter of physical ability with him, I think it is a matter of learning the game at the pro level and gaining confidence in his ability.

But it would not hurt to have better insurance, as another poster noted, just in case he does not.

Hey. I see plenty of people go out of their way to thump their chest about something they wanted done incessantly, in threads that have nothing to do with it, and talk about how terribly persecuted they were for their stance. I think I can mention the lack of foresight exhibited by going into the season so unprepared at FS (in threads that actually deal with such topics), considering my feelings on it in the offseason. :D

He might re-sign with Jags, too early to know, the season isn't even over with yet.

Only if he has improved vastly since his days here in Charlotte. He was a flat out joke when he played here, which is why the Panthers made little effort to keep him.

He's better than anyone else that we have now. I'd sign him if the price was right.

He would definitely make a good safety. We have not been able to have a true safety since Woody and our defense has suffered. Actually, Woody's absence shows how valuable he was to Roy because Roy was able to make more plays because of the security of Woody.

Grant would probably be an aspirin to a lingering headache for the Cowboys and it would also allow Watkins to get better as a backup. Davis would become Roy's backup next season over Elam and return Davis to his natural strong safety position. Both would play Special Teams and they would have solved their problem for at least three more season.
