6-1 with Crickett

Dude can pass and block and play ST.

Not sure what the love is to bring back failed LBers here

Even Wade said after the game that Hoyte was one of the guys we needed to get back.

I am happy with the way Neon catches the ball and runs with it, and he's definitely gung-ho about the game. I just think we'd look a lot better running the ball with a more traditional lead fullback.

Hoyte is a) great on ST and b) a much better lead blocker than Cricket

That said, I do really like Cricket and think he's got a spot on the active roster regardless of whether Hoyte gets back.

BTW - if Hoyte isn't ready after the bye, I expect he's going on IR.

Anderson has his strengths as a blocker...he doesn't have the power that Hoyte has in the hole, head up on a backer...not yet, not at his current size and strength.

However, I think Anderson is much better blocking in space...he moves well, gets into position, and he's pesky. He may not give anyone a headache or get a pancake, but he gets into people and doesn't get off them.

Hoyte would still be valuable on ST and as a lead blocker on the ISO, but I prefer Anderson around the end, in space, running, and catching. I don't see him becoming inactive when Hoyte returns.

I don't really pay much attention to the FBs blocking skillz... I figure if the RB's not getting hit in the backfield every play, then you must be doing an okay job. So I can't speak to Anderson's overall ability as a lead blocker.

That said, on Barber's longest run of the night, there was a blitzing LBer coming right through the hole, and Cricket shoved him to the side so MB3 could get through there.

So while he may not be the best blocking FB we've ever seen, I doubt he's as incompetent as everyone seems to believe.

Think it was Wade P that said Hoyte just blows people up, whereas if Deon finds the right guy....he wont release his block, stays with it well

i guess then the trick for deon is to find the right guy at the right time to block......

hint deon.........cross off the corners and free safety.....seldom they are in the1st wave........

then the OLine probably gonna take DL 9/10 times.........leave LB's and SS..... right and Left side.........

just increase your odds of getting the right guy odds to 8 out of 11.......:p:

I expected more before people compared him to Moose. Not to mention I think he's the 2nd best FB on the team, so he can't exactly be the 'best since Moose.'

Moose himself gave Anderson props when he broadcast with Sham, Best I remember, he said Dallas now has a real fullback in Deon Anderson.

He's still learning what it means to be a big time FB in the NFL, I like his upside and skills catching the ball.. He completely ran over someone today, gotta love it!

Anderson was standing defenders up all day long. He doesnt pancake guys all that much but he gets a bit of push otu there.

His problem has been blocking the wrong people but just because he doesnt blow people up like Hoyte doesnt mean he cannot block at all.

Hes a rookie and playing better. Today was his best game blocking and catching so far.

Our best "all around" FB since Moose was here. Soft hands to.

Catches/blocks and runs real well. Kid will only get better.

Good pick for Dallas.

You know, I usually don't like annointing players that quickly, but I have to agree.

He's not the blocker that Moose was (then again, who is?), but he's better with the ball in his hands then Moose, and is just as good of a reciever.

I really like this draft pick.

The key to Cowboys fans hearts: Catch 6 passes in 7 games and eat a cricket.

Apparently being good at your position (blocking is what fullbacks are supposed to do, no?) isn't required.

Apparently, everyone should have rookie years like Adrian Peterson to be accepted. The guy is a very raw rookie. For a very raw rookie, he is starting and doing his job. Top it off with the fact that he *IS* being effective in many aspects of the game. Mark it, he will become the full time FB and Hoyte will be relegated to a backup role. Why? Because form blocking can be taught, but Hoyte doesn't have receiving skills. Anderson does.

It's not Anderson's fault he was thrust into a starting role so soon.

Hoyte is to pass-catching as Anderson is to blocking. He's that bad.

Seems to me that a fullback blocks more than he catches.

It also seems strange that everyone thinks Anderson can improve on his blocking, but Hoyte can't improve on his receiving. Maybe he should eat a cricket.

They can both improve, but form blocking is something VERY teachable. Receiving, you either have it, or you don't. Why are there so many running backs that catch very few balls out of the back field? Because some can and some can't. Emmitt wasn't very good catching out of the backfield. Now, how about Brain Westbrook or LT. ;)

So what you are saying is he employs the mosquito defense.....gets on ya, annoys ya for a bit, until you finally slap him away

No kidding, all rooks must be through the roof in order for the anyone to accept him. How sad...
