See Jalen Ramsey FS/CB/DB Florida state to satisfy your needs. also the LB for the NDame team Jaylon Smith, both excel at coverage and football smarts. Either one of these guys makes us a smarter defensive unit.

I love Ramsey and really hope he's a Cowboy.

Part of what interests me about King is his physicality, I think it would be sort of awesome to just pair him with Jones at Safety and just shut down the deep game for years to come.

Oh he is. I didn't mean to imply he wasn't, just that its not his strength and hes definitely better in zone. He is one of, if not the best zone corner in the league when healthy.

oh ok gotcha. Other than Desmond King which other corners do u feel in the draft could be good in a mostly zone scheme?

Ill have to keep watching. Like I said in my first post I just started getting into the film. There are probably several other guys here who could answer that though. You're going to be looking for corners from those "bend dont break" sort of defenses so a lot of them aren't going to have flashy stats.

I have been big on Hargreaves but he didn't finish the season very strong. I still think he is the best corner, but I want to see his 40 before I deem him worthy of a top 5 pick.

What do you think he should run to make him worthy of a top 5 pick?

If we take him that high it's got to be for man-to-man abilities so he is going to need to run a 4.4 so we are sure he can hang with the best receivers. I am going to be very interested to see what his official height and weight come in at too. I think Hargreaves could make himself an easy pick at 4-5 with good measurables and combine performance. If he only measures so-so and doesn't time really well, he's more likely a 5-10 range guy.

His tape is good, but I don't think his coverage abilities are as good as Marcus Peters, who I thought was the best pure cover corner in last years draft, much to the dismay of most of the draftnicks here. I think Hargreaves is a better overall corner however, as he is a better and more willing tackler and I think he can play inside and out, unlike Peters.

If the team keeps Claiborne, Hargreaves and OScan could split duty in the slot and Jones could still play his tweener safety/corner role. We would have tremendous flexibility having three guys who can play on the inside and excel there.

That is a good question IMO 4.5 or less is the line. I think he is close. 4.4 and the numbers people move on to the next number like arm length or hand size. His pattern of work stands tall.

Thanks. :)

If we take him that high he's going to be our FS from Day 1.

He ran a 4.5 when getting recruited I believe. He also had something like a 40 inch vertical and wanted to compete in the Olympics for broad jump. Think he had one of the top broads ever at FSU.

I think he's going to make a very, very good safety. More importantly, you can play him anywhere. Like you said, Jones/Ramsey at safety would be an incredibly athletic duo with flexibility to play anywhere.

My post you quoted was about Hargreaves, not Ramsey. Someone else made the Jones/Ramsey at safety comment. I want Jones at corner, personally.

I hate making comparisons to NFL players, but King really reminds me of Tillman when Marinelli was with the Bears. I think that's the kind of impact he can have if the scheme is right. He is tough, hard nosed and very instinctual. He is going to tip a lot of passes and force a lot of fumbles, for a corner, at the next level. If he can get into the right scheme.

I am not an Iowa football fan but I don't understand how King didn't make the conversation for the Heisman this year. He was a top player in the country on an undefeated team.

Maybe if he had played for Bama he would have had a shot.

I'm a fan of Desmond King and Keivarae Russell in this draft. If possible, I'd gladly have both.

King breaks on the ball like a champ. He becomes a receiver when ball is in air.

And while his zone skills are definitely his strength, he can play man. King plays the same type of man to man that Marinelli has Carr and our other corners playing this year, where they run away from the receiver, and is so much better at it than any of our current corners, including Jones.

I'm pretty sold on King. Would love to have him. I feel like he's a non-flashy but very good CB. I think he has a long NFL career ahead of him.
