If new linebacker Jayrone Elliott is on the Cowboys' 46-man roster for three games, then the Green Bay Packers will receive Dallas' seventh round pick in 2018.

Well, if you're going to get a bunch of suspensions, you might as well use them to expand your roster and gauge your conditional trades, I guess.

You read my mind.

I fully expect one or both of those guys to be former Cowboys at that point.

Elliott is definitely a placeholder at both linebacker and DE if he doesn't prove that he belongs over someone like Tapper. I'd throw Wilber in there as well but he seems to be fairly untouchable despite not really adding much on D.

Of course, if Wilson and Carroll get suspended, then those spots will take care of themselves. Of course, the league could drag its feet like it's done with the Elliott case and disrupt our ability to plan how to handle these things.

They do seem to be making a concerted effort to do that, don't they?

We've had more success with our UDFA than our third day picks as of late.

Well, we do bring in around 15 UDFAs each year, while drafting at the most around half that number on the third day. Considering the success percentage of those third-day rounds, the numbers favor the UDFAs.

Or we could look at it this way: 1 out of 15 UDFAs we initially signed this year made the team, while 3 out of 6 picks made in the Rounds 4-7 made the team.

Would the league notice if he was substituted for Zeke during the suspension? I mean, same last name and all?
