Dez contract should be contract priority #1, not Murray

A lot of people are talking about extending Murray and if it is smart to sign him now on the cheap, or wait until the end of the year to see how his injury history holds up to the workload of averaging 25+ carries a game. Before Murray gets any kind of money the front office needs to take care of Dez first cause Bryant is the one that is a top 3 player at his position, not Murray.

I believe Dez cut off all contract talks until after the season. They were negotiating up until the last day of preseason, but never came to terms.

dez does'nt want to negotiate now. they tried to sign him first so it's obvious they know he is a priority. murray was offered a very good deal for the team and him i think. but you can't just wait till the off season on everyone and dez wants to wait. dez will get done or tagged. he is not going anywhere

Murray is just as valuable to this team as Dez. Why do people here on this board want to run him out of town so fast? We finally have a good thing going which opposing teams defenses have to count for which leaves lots of one on one coverage for Dez and Williams. Its like God gives us a gift of untold treasures beyond our wildest dreams and we say no thanks, God wouldn't do that for me.

Take it as it is folks we would not be in this situation if it weren't for Murray. I would try and sign him with a contract thats reasonable. Then fix our defense and finally make a run for the Superbowl. Because we just have a few more years before Romo and Wittens hangs it up and call ill afford to keep searching for a possible replacement for Murray.

I don't understand why you have to chose one over the other. They both should be priority. We can afford both.

Lets be honest that grab was incredible by Dez Bryant at the end of the game, but he did drop a couple balls today. Murray is so consistent it is crazy. He is going to give you 100+ yards and punish the defense and fumble at some point in the game. I still think you sign Murray to a reasonable deal and then you try to extend Dez. I let Dez go if he is looking for anything more then 13 a year.

Yes and no. Dez is worth the tag, which provides a greater degree of freedom in negotiation.

Someone hasn't been paying attention to Dez and his contract talks.

They may fire up talks in the bye week, hopefully, but if one side doesn't want to talk about a contract till after the season...

Murray has been phenomenal this year, but look at how many yards before first contact he has. This O-Line has been as much(or more) of a factor in his success this year than he has. I don't mean to take anything away from him either because he's running really well, but half the backs in the league could have the yardage he does behind how well this O-Line has been run blocking.

If he wants top 5 money for a RB, you let him go and draft the next guy. It's just how the running back position needs to be treated in today's NFL.

we can't sign everyone. i think harris and maybe carter could be gone. carter will get some bigger offers as will harris, than we can deal with. i think ro, dez,are going to be fairly easy. murray has an offer on the table so it's up to him but appears to be a reasonable offer. leary is another guy we need to sign but should'nt be too expensive with him. i don't think there is any way we keep harris and at lb if i had to chose between ro and carter i keep ro

The Cowboys need to score more points than the Seahawks in order to win this week.

I'll have agree and disagree with you here.

I do agree that the oline has much of an impact on our run game. But Murray also has gotten hit at the LOS and has made some significant yardages after being hit. Some of that is great blocking. But some of that is because of Murray doesn't go down easily and tends to get extra yards after breaking a tackle or two.Thats possibly why he has fumbled so many times. He doesn't go down easily and players from the opposing team are able to rip the ball away from him.

As for Randle consider me unimpressed. He is no where near as talented as Murray. He goes down way to easily and tends to dance too much in the backfield. After a while, Randle's run of 2 yards gets old. I don't think replacing Murray is going to be that easy. He really is a pretty good runningback. Just watch his rookie season. He didn't have an oline to run with like he had now. Yet was able to still run for 5 yards a carry. I'll take that anyday over any back in the league and its not as easy to replace if Murray is gone.
