Some fan said I love how loyal you are to the Cowboys and the thread title was his response. He also added that it's business. This things getting annoying and I feel will lead to a hold out or he'll miss a lot of off-season stuff. I'm his biggest supporter and want him to get paid, but he is going to clearly be PISSED if he gets tagged. Last thing we need is our best player being pissed. I'm not saying give him Calvin money but give this man his money. We need him more then he needs us, 100%

Maybe he IS asking for Calvin money and that's why all the talk of franchising him in the first place?
Without knowing where the two sides are in the negotiations, can't just say give him his money. It might be unrealistic.

Sure hope this can be resolved without the tag though.

He wants Calvin money plus. So you are saying give him Calvin money.

My exact wording was don't give him Calvin money. Read

You also said give the man his money. He's not going to take less than Calvin money. You can't say both of those things, does that clear up why I said that?

I love Dez, he's probably my favorite player after Tony.

How does he say the Cowboys arent loyal to him? He had and top 5 talent and just kept falling until Jerry accepted his baggage and took him. All the boneheaded decisions he has made and still the Cowboys supported him. I'm sure we are offering him a big contract and he questions loyalty? Come on.. he is probably asking for Calvin money.

Alot of speculation, assumption, and just overall misinterpretation of circumstance going on in this post. The reality is we don't know what the Cowboys have legitimately offered and we don't know what Dez legitimately wants.

Back to your OP in this thread. When it's all said and done, you can't tell me why Dez shouldn't respond to the Cowboys most recent media quotes? You might not like what he said, but you can't call it a cry for attention when all he did, at most, was let his displeasure be known. That's not crying for attention.

I don't know what it will take to sign him and he is an off field risk. Irvin was an off field risk and he's possibly my favorite Cowboy of all time.... nope not probably he is my favorite. He might be the only Cowboy player who loves them as much as me.

I'd be pretty upset if I were him as well. He's given a lot to the Cowboys. I wouldn't tweet or anything like that. At the end of the day. He's earned a big pay day. Jerry would be very very dumb to let this guy go

id say the complete opposite actually,if it wasnt for the fo and veteran players god knows where dez would be now.
Lest we forget all the little bits of touble he was getting involved with or being associated with.
It was in fact the cowboys front office that did alot to help keep dez out of trouble-what wth the curfew and body guards/minders/escorts what ever you want to call them.
He is a very rich young man already thanks in the main part to what the cowboys as an organisation have done to help him

We agree on our two favorite players haha. Like I said, don't give him CJ money, but he 100% deserves to be the highest paid guy after the CJ and Fitz contracts

I would have been fine with him saying he would be displeased with getting the franchise tag in a professional manner. Why did he have to take a shot at the team that has clearly been dedicated to him? Does he not understand the Cowboys aren't in position cap wise to just hand him a $100M contract with no second thoughts.

No matter what he said, was going to garner negative attention. unless it was "sure no problem ill take 7m a year why not, blah blah hometown discount" or something of the such. In my opinion

10 years and 114m speaks volumes. That is deal Dez could earn 80-100%. If he signs a CJ type deal he will only get 50% before his new team cuts him.

TSmith signed a similar deal with no fanfare and no whining.

The window to use the franchise tag is now open, 13million under the franchise tag is a good junk of change but to put a $100million on the table for someone crying loyalty games is a bit tougher to deal with......DEZ needs to be mature enough to let the process work. Both Cowboys and Dez want a long term deal.... its gonna happen....just let the process work.

Then again, Cleveland has two first round picks,.... think DEZ would like to make a $100million playing for a team like Cleveland? Make your money but no chance at a Super Bowl....he should be thankful he plays for the Cowboys....it could be much worse.

So only one side can use the public forum to negotiate?

Did you have a problem when the organization leaked that old arrest report to rapoport?

I didn't take Stephens side either. I'm not even worried about the negotiations part of it. It irks me that he would say the Jones' aren't dedicated to him, when if anything they are overly dedicated to their players.

The Cardinals want out of the Fitz contract and the Lions want out of the CJ contract... There has to be a happy medium here. Judging by the restraint being shown around Valley Ranch lately... This might get ugly and some fans are going to be pissed..

Exactly....

He may walk when the time comes, demand a trade, or hold out. I wont blame him.

The only player with heart on our team. If we lose him we can look back to being crap.

Yes 1 player means that much. O-Line or not, our Offense, and Receiving options behind Dez are all pieces of ****(No exaggeration). So no team will respect our run game. Romo needs a WR who can bail him out when he just throws 1 up.

T-Will, Beasley, Witten, Harris, ect ect can barely do **** with simple coverage on top of them.

Players don't like the franchise tag. It's not a badge of honor. And no matter what we, joe fan, thinks, it's a business for players too. The tag limits their abilities to market themselves.

He's always said he didn't want the franchise tag. and he's never said anything unprofessional about it. The sign of loyalty from a player's perspective is to NOT franchise them. But it is what it is, I'm all for players getting theirs...

That said, I'm not worried about the talk between Dez and the team right now. If there haven't been any negotiations since the beginning of the season, I can't imagine a deal happening anytime soon when they haven't even made courtesy calls to one another. lol
