He was probably in a rush to get home and play Madden. I'm not sure if there are many 12 year olds that tweet more about how awesome they are at that video game and how badly they beat someone in the game. I love his talent, but he really is just an overgrown child at this point. With his upbringing, it's understandable but still disappointing. When we still see him screwing up routes and watch Romo correct him repeatedly, it makes one wonder how much time he really spends with his Cowboys playbook vs his Madden playbook.

This is the bottom line.

Someone didn't do enough homework before we drafted him, .. he is still a child in many ways.

I just read the op's comment and jumped straight here to make my comment. Something I rarely do. I prefer to read all the comments before adding my own comment. But in this instance I came directly here to state that in my opinion the op used poor taste regardless of how others may feel.

I was a husband, a father, had a full time job and a home to take care of when I was 23.

i think the point is that not all and possibly most 23 year olds have moments of immaturity. no excuse for dez because we definitely want more as a fan base but he has his moments and they are magnified by the media (dallas' in particular) unlike any other 23 year olds who have less means to get into trouble.

at 23 i had a full time job and was helping my parents pay the mortgage. i had a $100k sports car and was very reckless with it. it happens. Doesn't mean i can't relate to db and sympathize that some of the stuff he's been called out for is overblown by the media. yes other things are head scratchers too.

SL is a mature young man, .. DB not so much.

Don't get me wrong, I am a DB fan. He is a great athlete. But I am tired of him not knowing where to go on pass routes, and all of the other foolishness that follows him around.

I didn't get to go to college at all, ... I graduated from a 2 yr Technical school. I've had to make that work.

I didn't have anybody helping me through school like these athletes do.

I'm not making millions of dollars.
