Dez Bryant is not happy with his rating in Madden 17. The Dallas Cowboys’ star checks in at 90 and is ranked as the eighth best receiver, something he sees as a slight.

“I play Madden, I [expletive] love Madden,” Bryant said, per Jon Machota of ***BANNED-URL***. “They would do me like that? Oh my God. That is an insult, like why would you do that to me? How much I love y’all. Like what? Not John Madden, because I love him. It’s the developers.”

Bryant, though, is not worried about his ranking, expressing confidence that it will look a lot better in the future.

“I’m not worried about that. That rating going to shoot up real quick, you best believe that,” he said.

While Bryant may not like his ranking, he does keep good company. Only seven other receivers have rankings at 90 or higher. He joins Antonio Brown (97), Julio Jones (96), Odell Beckham Jr. (93), DeAndre Hopkins (93), A.J. Green (93), Larry Fitzgerald (91) and Alshon Jeffery (91).

While Bryant may not like his rating, his pre-2015 reputation is what makes it as high as 90. Ordinarily, receivers who caught only 31 passes for 401 yards and three touchdowns in nine games in the preceding season aren’t ranked anywhere near 90 in Madden.

Based on his early showings this preseason, however, we’re confident he’ll soon see top-five status.

can you imagine how good the cowboys of the early and mid 90s could have been if they had had motivation like this?!

his rating is bs though. Almost as if they aren't factoring in that he missed half of last season. His stats would have dwarfed those 3 times over if he was healthy. But that's fine he'll be getting that update boost every week

I don't know what Dez expected after a bad season where he either didn't play or looked like he was playing through an injury.

Dez who cares about a stupid game, make the plays on the field where they really count.

i hope whomever wrote that article meant "pre-2016" instead of "pre-2015" because if his ranking really is based off of pre-2015 performance he should be ranked as the best receiver in the NFL seeing as he led the league in TD receptions in 2014

If it's based off of pre-2016 performance, I can understand the 90 ranking as he didn't have a great year at all last year. Yes, it was mainly due to his injury and Romo being out, but that's pretty typical of Madden

I'm sure it's a typo. Taking into account last year a 90 is fine. He'll bounce back.

Imagine how hacked off he's going to be when he sees the monkey's rating.

Seems like no one is giving Dez the benefit of the doubt. You barely even hear his name mentioned when ranking the top 5 WRs now. Whereas after the 2014 season, he was firmly in the top 3. All the 2015 proved to us is that he was injured, came back too soon and at best was at 70% in the games he did play...with a joke at QB.

After 4-5 weeks, order will be restored and Dez's Madden rating will reflect that.

The truth is a lot of players now days including guys in the NBA play video games and do care about their ratings. It's another bragging right and to an extent another ranking that does matter in the form of pride. Sure not everyone will be Sean Lee in Wrangler jeans herding cattle as a hobby and making this type of comment but I don't think Dez's comment is out of the ordinary. We and the media make too much of it. If it adds that little of a fuel to the fire then whatever. I'd rather them stay home playing video games than being out bored.

In the words of the Great Phil Jackson "Oh how quickly they forget". I was just having this convo with a couple buddies of mine the other day and you're right after the 2014 season Dez and Antonio Brown were 1A and 1B. Couldn't go wrong with either. After this injured season people wanna put Julio and Odell and Hopkins and then in front of Dez. What have you done for me lately society. But Dez will remind these fools who he is this year. I guarantee by week 9 at the latest Dez will be back to 95-96 rating
