He hasn't been proven wrong on that yet. Again, I'm not saying he's right and fans can rip the guy all they want but he's in touch with people closer to the situation than any of us here. It's what he does for a living but it's not an exact science.

There was a reporter who reported Dez was in a serious altercation at Walmart and he was supposedly close to the situation and he makes a living doing what he does and he was completely wrong.

They no longer get the benefit of the doubt of being right just because they're an "insider."

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say Dez will be back for the Seattle game

Nothing is "safe" he's going to have to have a solid week of practice without any setbacks to be ready for Seattle. It's easy to assume he'll play based on the fact the Cowboys were considering playing him tomorrow but there's no guarantees he'll be ready in another week. If he's experiencing any type of discomfort/soreness they won't play him.

That's a lot different than trying to estimate when Dez will return from a broken foot that required surgery. Insiders aren't psychic they're all wrong once in awhile. They depend on sources and the time frame for injuries can be tricky depending on the player and how they heal.

He's definitely much closer to ready than he is "not even close" like Crapaport stated.

I had a grade 2 sprain on my fifth metatarsal and I was doing box jumps in 7 weeks. I'd much rather have fractured it.

I'd be very surprised if he isn't back for Seattle and he wouldn't be on the field doing any type of drill if there was concern about re-injury. He's close.

Ian's an idiot and i'm pretty sure he's never sustained a real sports injury in his life. 10-12 weeks? Come on dude.

As far as him being out, it takes me from optimistic to slightly cynical. I think the odds swang from us being slight favorites to definite dogs. It's hard to win in this league without your QB and All-Pro type receiver, especially a tough divisional game.

If they pull it out, it'll show serious grit.

The recovery time for any injury depends on the person. What one person is doing several weeks later after that injury someone else might not be able to do recovering from the same injury. Obviously Dez is closer to being ready than not but you have to figure the Cowboys are pushing to get him back as soon as possible to help salvage their season and a setback could occur. Some of you think everyone in the media is an idiot. Hard to get a network job covering the NFL if they're all idiots.

Rapo is obviously not taken as seriously as Scheffer if you go by their twitter following but even Scheffer has been called an idiot many times on this board. Dez being out 10-12 weeks wasn't Rapoports opinion it was the information he was given by those who suppose to know about that particular injury. That injury varies with everyone.

enjoy. i made the trip for the NE game. even thoough we lost i dont regret the experience. take the stadium tour!

Thanks. I've taken the tour a couple times... really awesome. I try to catch two home games every season so this is my first one this season. The other game that I'm catching this seasons is the regular season finale versus Washington.

It's not going to vary by that much, not in the case of a metatarsal. An ACL/meniscus/rotator cuff type injury, sure.

I really don't know where he got that info, and i don't care. They're in the business of selling sensationalism, not facts. If it was even close to Crapaport's timelime, he wouldn't even be practicing. It means the bone is healed, and he's dealing with discomfort. It's not a sprain, he's not going to re-injure it. He's going to be popping a lot of ibuprofen and applying the RICE method all week i'm sure. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was a full participant Wednesday.

NFL insiders are in the business to provide credible information their reputation is at state. There's millions of fans out there who listen to these guys and it's important to their credibility they provide accurate information. They don't want to look stupid but if they're provided with bad information they can look stupid and it reflects bad on them. They always make it clear that "according to their sources" this is how the situation stands. I'm not going to fault Rapoport if Dez comes back 3 weeks prior to when he was told he would be back when Dez first sustained the injury.

Not even doctors can give an accurate time frame for some injuries it depends on the player. Dez is going to have to be a full participate for most of next week or he might be out again. We all know the Cowboys are probably pushing this because they're in trouble. We'll just have to see how it goes next week but until he's officially slated to play I'm not counting on him.

One other point about NFL insiders is because they all want to be the first report on a breaking story that can result in a lot of inaccuracies. They all want to beat each other to the punch before everything becomes clear and they can end up with some egg on their face. A story can be reported by one of them and 5 hrs later it totally changes once all the facts start coming out.
