Dez is on pace for 16 TDs which is right about where I would have expected him to end up... Leading the league.

Anybody else surprised at his yardage totals? He is currently ranked 20th in the NFL in receiving yards per game.

Is this due to the emergence of T. Williams? Maybe it's the double coverage, however, I haven't seen Dez getting open quite as much as I thought.

A lot of it is he's being double covered. I'm sure some of it is how good Williams has been also.

The Cowboys have a lot of weapons. No individual is going to have the stats they would if they were on another team. The good thing is that Dez is the happiest man in the building when one of his teammates makes a play. He'll be fine as long as team the is successful. And he will get his. He's too good not to.

It really is encouraging to see how happy and supportive he is of others getting the TDs.

It's almost as shocking as Aaron Rogers only ranking 8th in passing yardage.

You can add more numbers to those stats. Without Murray, Tony is going to be airing it out.

He's about as good as I thought he was, a lot of people here jumped the gun a bit on him though.

The one who has been a huge surprise is T.Williams.

Why would you be surprised? Rodgers finished 8th in yardage in 2012 also.

Rodgers just doesn't throw the ball that much compared to a lot of QBs. Last year he was 10th in the league in passing attempts. This year he ranks 19th in attempts.

Not sure if he's as good as people think he is.

I think he is the best WR in the NFL once he has the ball in his hands. 10 out 10 rating.

I think he is maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10 before he has the ball (routes, getting open, etc) and improving.

He is basically a top 5 WR in the NFL already and will only improve he has learns more of the intricacies of the game as it relates to what makes WRs great up to the point that they make the reception.

The only knock I have against Dez, if any, is not getting open, like you mentioned.

What happened to 2500yds and 25TD's? What a failure..

I think it's just like every other big time WR, you can take your shots and target them in the redzone, but you still have to help free them up through your offensive playcalling. They did this in the Denver game a few times by clearing out the middle and sending him on crosses and other combinations that did not require him to straight up beat double coverage. Other receivers have been stepping up to avoid the need to force it to him in those situations. Dez does not really have the deep speed to blow the top off or get deeper than a shaded safety, so it's really finding the holes and ways to use his RAC ability which crosses and slants are great for. Throwing Dez a bunch of back shoulders and outs takes away one of his best attributes of being a great RAC player. I think as Romo said recently that it's taking them some time to figure out what they want to run as their bread and butter plays of this offense. It seems like every week we see a few new wrinkles while they are trying to figure that out. Some work and others just don't.

I think Romo trying to be a little more conservative is also a factor in that he is not trying to force it to Dez on a 50/50 ball. I think Romo also has had some misses because he is trying to fit it in a smaller window and putting it low where there is less risk of a pick, but it's end up too low for Bryant who requires some extra effort due to his build to get down low for the catch.

So why would it be shocking that Dez only ranks 20th in receiving yardage? What was his ranking last year at this time? And the year before that?

Or do shockingly low numbers only apply to Cowboys players?
