Two guys way down the HOF Monitor list at Pro Football reference. Thomas is a bit higher. Dez made 1st Team All Pro once, Thomas made 2nd Team All Pro twice.

After going through that thought it was pretty cool then it lost me at Peyton being quite a bit ahead of Brady...

They are pretty even. Neither guy was ever the best in the league.

Dez was a first team all pro. By definition he was at his peak one of the two best receivers in the league

Imo it wasn't so much lack of chemistry - Dez made his living with the back shoulder/fade route and unfortunately Dak cant throw the pass with any real consistency - especially when Dez was around.

Romo quoted that one time on a broadcast. Also show how Dak should throw it to him.

Dak wasn't accurate enough to throw the back shoulder/fade. Troy said it and that is why the Dak groupies hate Troy. sad but true. The even slight Jimmy for what he said.

Dez was a great 50/50 guy, but Demaryius I think was a better all around receiver. Faster for burning corners and liked the short slant/hitch-and-go routes as well.

between 2012 and 2016 he never caught less than 90 balls. The 4 years with Peyton he averaged over 100 catches a season.

At first glance they seemed like similar big guys, but they played the position very differently.

Both supremely physically gifted players who were in it not to be the best that ever played but to be a guy who signs a massive pay day. Once the primary goal was achieved the effort went away and so did the player.

Manning and Brady are way out ahead of all other QBs, with Manning only slightly ahead of Brady. Manning was 7 time 1st Team All Pro. Half his career. Only Johnny Unitas made also made more than 3, at 5. Everyone else 3 or less. Not unreasonable for Manning to be ahead of Brady.
And no one no one chose Manning over Brady. It's an algorithm based on characteristics of HOF inductees.

And all through his career. There was a always talk about "getting him involved early" to keep his focus up.

Dez made a lot of himself. Most Cowboy fans think he could have made more with more diligence.

His three best years as a pro were 2012, 2013 and 2014 still on his rookie deal. 2015 he was franchise tagged and was still very good. At some point in 2015 i do not know when he signed his mega 5 year deal. 2016 he was still reasonable but not worth the money. 2017 he was semi reasonable but no where near worth the money. 2018 he was basically retired. Seems pretty clear to me.

He signed before the 2015 season (July) and in 2016 he played well as the number 1 option on a SB team, if you’re a major contributor to a championship team you are worth the money lol. No ones gonna quibble over 2/3M when you play an integral role in winning it all. 2017 they had terrible QB play (Lynch/Osweiler/Simien) and he still did this:

In the 23–10 loss, he had ten receptions for 133 yards.[144] From Weeks 8–10, he recorded three consecutive games with a receiving touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, and Cincinnati Bengals.

He led the team with 83 receptions for 949 yards and five touchdowns as the Broncos struggled to a 5–11 record.”

And 2018 he TORE HIS ACHILLES for the SECOND time (tore in 2011 as well). Not sure why you keep ignoring that, post-2018-injury DT wasn’t the same guy and that’s not really his fault. No one has even accused him of not working hard, you’re honestly the only person I’ve ever seen do it. What’d he ever do to you lol?

Overall, I say both are equal when looking at their peaks and overall career.

Dez and Romo was a treat to watch. They had that chemistry that really made Dez shine with his freak ability and Romo's ability to get that jump ball/over shoulder where only Dez could get it.

Imagine if neither got cheated out of that td in greenbay.

I don't care how you spin it the guy was incredible his last 3 years on his rookie deal and he was never as good after he signed his contract and was traded away before the contract expired and basically out of the league not long after. The contract ended up nothing but a mistake for the team. If you are going to end up nothing but a burden on your teams salary cap do not expect me to sugar coat it.

Both were very good. I wouldn’t consider either great.

For me to be great is hof or sniffing the hof. That means you gotta be top 3-5 at your position for at least 8 years. Dez had 4-5 great years DT had around 6. Both were dominate for those years but fall short of the greatness category. I 100% agree with they both were very good but not great.

Dez was great with Romo. Otherwise, not so much.

Romo was not nearly as risk averse as Dak was/is. No way in the world Dak was throwing into tight coverage his first year especially. And that contributed heavily to Dez's fall off. Dez was all about the contested ball...because he could win that battle. He could make the catch in a really tight window. Romo knew that and was willing to take those risks.

I've grown to like Dak more than many on here, but he absolutely needs receivers that get more separation than Romo did. Not necessarily because of physical abilities, but because he's not willing to take the same risks Romo would.
